Valentine Anniversary Table For Two -

I've been thinking of what type of table I'd like to

do for Valentine's Day. I've seen so many lovely ones here and they have inspired me to get going.

I had this 'Couple' since last year, I bought them after Valentine's Day at CTS, for $.75 each!

How could I resist..you know I love Bears.

So I decided to do a 'Valentine Anniversary Table' '

In their Honor!!

The red plates were from Marshalls..$2 ea. The heart plates, (sadly they had only 2) at CTS, for $.69 ea.

The Napkins were from $ General - Napkin Rings $.25 ea at local Thrift Shop...and the Flatware was from CTS...last Fall - $9.99

Aren't they a Cute Couple? ..It's Their First Valentine Anniversary you know!

The Red Mercury Votive was after Christmas Clearance at CTS $.25... I looked high and low, but they only had one left!

This is so pretty! I love the red dishes, and the napkins and the flatware! I wish I had red flatware that was more formal, like you have. We West-coasters don't have a CTS or the other neat stores you Easterners have. I'm not usually a fan of heart shapes, but I think your ceramic "doily" hearts are terrific. Perfect for the bears. But the teddies themselves would add a perfect note of whimsy for a people table, too.

I love the adorable little couple and set in my favorite color combination. :)
The small heart plates are just precious and the napkins to with the very neat silverware.
It seems certain I'll be the last one to get around to getting anything together for VDay so I'm really enjoying everyone elses. *S*

Candy, I just got lucky on setting this table. Some of them look better than others.LOL Nana, ok, I'll leave the hearts on. I might take the other set to the office for fun. Did you notice I added white tissue paper to the inside of the vase to make the hearts stand out? Jeanne, TJ is close by. I'll take a picture so you can see where she's sitting.LOL OA, I remember a winter table of yours that was awesome that you used yours on. I want you to do whatever you'd like and don't think twice.LOL I've learned so much from all of you here and I'm so thankful. Your table will blow mine away but please "recreate". I can handle it and would love to see it!!! Wouldn't it be fun to have all of us come up with certain things we need to create a vignette when it's slow on here? This way Karen will join us. Each of us would name one thing it would have to have like a book, lamp, vase you get the idea. OK, it was a loooong Mondayyyy at work. Karen, I would love to have some red metal ones. Hope you use them for VDay. What Thursday tablescape party are you talking about? Is it one that you can post a link for us to see? That would be fun. sandi, thank you. We waited as long as we could for him, but he had to work late, and you are right, they had already had their day together, he has to work extra hrs sometimes, but DD and I were OK with this. patty, oh that is so aggravating to get home and find the items broken, that has happened to me too. The only place I have seen the candle holders like mine have been at Macys. Once Walmart sold out of them after Xmas, they did not bring them back, I suppose it was a Christmas "type" of item rather and a regularly carried thing in their store. Mary, thank you. I had purchased the lotus candle holders at Walmart during the Xmas season, figureing that I would use them for a few different things, they look pretty holding a small cake or holding decorated cup-cake too. In this case I just used them as a charger/throne for the footed bowl for the shrimp cocktail. I like to think of ways I can use something for a different use. You can even turn them upside down for a different "footed look". luvs, thank you for the complements too. Work and it's issues sometimes gets me down and I just have to step back a bit, retirement can't come soon enough LOL I'm not sure what you mean by 2 chargers. I used the round mirror placemat and the silver flower edged tray as a charger, and the rest were just my china plates (probably hard to tell by my photos). Believe me the candle light really adds immeasurably to the atmosphere, and the real flowers make me happy too. purple moon, thank you, LOL, they are all easy to clean, if not then it would be a whole other situation, even the silver just gets washed in hot soapy water, a good rinse and dry and WaLa, done! In fact washing china is easier than washing stoneware, china is very light, but sturdy. Yachter, thank you, I have aquired alot of things over the years and interchange them alot. Plus, I tend to put my "extra" money into dishes and such, I don't have an extensive wardrobe and such, and most of all the DD is finally out on her own, so I have a few more pennies to spend than I had in the past, but even I have to slow down, I have some major house fixing to do coming up. As far as storage, well I can take over all the closet and shelf space I want LOL, since I'm alone now. I do plan on doing some major shelving in the garage this summer for the less delicate things.

marlene...Thanks for your nice compliments...I bet if you 'shopped' your home, you could put together a very lovely table, pretty quickly too! lol That's what I do when I get inspired..and, you'd be surprised, when you get an idea, you look at the things you have, with a different eye! Thanks Jeanne..In the past two yrs, I started adding red to my dish collection. If you have White as a 'staple'..then you've gotta add red! punk..glad you liked everything. You've been a big 'Inspirational Enabler' here with all the nice tables you churn out! As far as those choco candles...you'd be surprised how 'chocolatly' they smell..hard NOT to take a bite. How the heck did you come up with one of my tables on a web site?..that's kind of scary...lol jane

Thanks everyone for such nice compliments. I like the first arrangement too...I think the double centerpiece along with the lighting gave it more 'umph'.. Karen... thank you for the well wishes on getting to still go to Fl..we're hoping. Prosperiety...the roses are actually red velvet. When I have them out, I get lots of compliments on them. They look so much more beautiful in person. I paid all of $3 a bunch (there are 3 bunches) at Walmart a couple of yrs ago!! Kathleen.. We'll have to cheer each other on, if this cold weather continues much longer. Luvs..you are too funny...as for hot and steamy... That would be when I'm having a 'Heat Surge' and no one wants to be around me when I'm having one of them!! Thanks again to all. I love coming here, as this is the best place to be cheered up. jane

Jane, you have created a perfect Valentine Anniversary table! Those bears are so cute and should be honoured that they can sit at your lovely table. The lacy heart-shaped plates are perfect and even if you could only get 2, that's perfect for intimate dinners with your DH. The napkins are another hit, love the hearts on them! I really like how you filled the space of the table with your centerpiece/accessories - sometimes difficult to create an intimate setting at a big table but you did it. Still loving that black hutch in the background too!

slinkey...this is WAY cute!!! Happy 1st Anniversary, you sweet cuddly couple! They should feel very special with this lovely table! Your dishes are wonderful! I am loving the flatware! I didn't know what a CTS was & looked it up & found "recalls on Toyota's"...so I typed CTS store & now I know it's "Christmas Tree Store"...we don't have those...darn! You found some great bargains!

I am looking for flatware to go with my winter dishes...Platzgraf Winter Frost...they make one with the pattern in plastic (or something) but I didn't care for those)...if anyone has any other ideas for this pattern, please post. (whoops, don't mean to be OT here! Back to your table! Love it, love it! TFS...the white pitcher & flowers look so romantic! Jeanne S.

Jane, those bears and that table setting is as sweet as a big ol' box of Valentine chocolates! It just made me smile to look at it, which I did several times already.
Love those Val napkins, really cute.

Well, I'll try again. Just wanted to say how much I love your Valentine/Bear table. Mr. and Mrs B. look like a very nice couple - a couple that you'd want to invite to dinner. Did they come with their own valentine balloons or did you add them?

You know, I have a friend who ties little bows around the stem of her stemware when she has a party. I just love that idea, but for some reason have never done it myself. Seeing yours, reminded me of it. So now I'm going to do it once in a while. Hope you don't mind me copying. I just think it is such a nice touch.

What a wonderful, whimsical table, Jane! Your bear couple is darling and perfect for a very pretty Valentine table. They were a great idea to create a table around! I love your flatware. What a great price you got it for, too! And, of course, I'm lusting after your white heart plates. You got your red heart napkins at $General?!? I keep forgetting about that store! Thanks for the reminder to check it out for holiday decs. The small sparkle hearts are adding a nice festive touch. I know that you and your DH must be enjoying this table!

If we lived near one another we could share our flatware and pierced plates and have a really BIG party!
It looks lovely..stay warm,..it is so cold and windy here we need fur like the Anniversary couple!

Count me in on all that everyone else has said. Darling bear couple and really pretty table. I too love your flatware, looks expensive and is perfect with this table. I'm glad you were able to get at least two of those pretty plates, they are just perfect for a Valentine table.

Jane, what a precious table setting! The first thing that caught my eye were your napkins. I love them and would never have guessed they came from the dollar store.

Sorry I took so long to reply... DH & I spent the day down in NY our DD needed us babysit. We had to be there for when the Gkids came home from school. We ended up taking them to their favorite place to eat - Nathans.
Geeeesh..you can drop a bundle just going out for Hot Dogs!!
We ended up taking our oldest DGson home with us for the weekend....we love it as much as he does.

magpie...keep checking your surrounding areas for CTS shops. They have been cropping up all over. Originally they were only in Cape Cod, Ma..but now are all over the place.
They do have great deals.

milosmom...you still have time before V-Day to do a table.
I know what you mean about enjoying everyone else's.
This table came by pretty quick..working around the 'Special Couple'!

DD...you're right, I find you have to think of clever ways to 'fill in' with a large table to make it intimate for just two. This one seemed kind of easy with the bears towards the end, as a focal point. Glad you liked the look.

jeanne...I'm sorry about the 'CTS'..I forgot that not everyone knows what that stands for. Glad you figured out the 'mystery' though! lol. Too bad they don't sell online..that would make lots of happy campers here!!

karen...what a cute description of this table 'A Sweet Box of Chocolates'...that would make me smile too! Glad you enjoyed it.

OA...those little 'Valentine Balloons'..are actually little heart picks that I bought last year, and kind of just propped them up on either side of the bears. I thought they looked cute and do look like balloons.
As far as the bows on the glasses...Hey...go for it. I saw this idea on someone's table once, and liked it..and I 'stole' err borrowed the idea myself!! lol

Lynn...seems like everyone is so impressed with those heart napkins. Yes they came from $ General, and I'm sorry I didn't buy more. They are so cute and the fabric is a nice pique and look even nicer in person.

kathleen...that would be GREAT..borrowing each others things to add to what we have in common. I'm sure you were able to buy more of those plates than I.
I hear ya on the 'stay warm'... It's been brutally cold, especially with that nasty ole 'wind chill factor' whipping around. You do the same... I'm sure your making nice hot soup or some other great comfort food to chase away the cold...lol

Luvs... I guess you're right, better to have the two plates than none! The red flatware is a great look for the price. I wouldn't usually buy red, but it was too tempting.

dream...seems the flatware and those napkins are the big hit of this table! If I added up what I spent for everything...it comes out to cheap..cheap...cheap!!

Happy anniversary and nice job on the table. Ditto on the napkins. The bears could be great in a lot of settings, and my favorite is the heart plates.

Jane, you have created a lovely tablesetting. You have so many great finds and they sure don't *look* like bargains! I'm bookmarking this thread so I can find it later. So many wonderful ideas. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love bears also and have wondered how to use them on my table. Yours is very inspiring and has made me think about this idea again.
