They have a lot of options. Also, there is a new product called WiMotos that is just about to get on the market. They recently had a hugely successful Indiegogo campaign and raised a ton of money to produce their products. What is great about them is they are not WiFi which drains batteries really fast. They use bluetooth instead. They have tons of different options you can use and plan on creating a bunch more. http://www.wimoto.com/ We have LaCrosse temperature and humidity sensors and an Onset Hobo data logger that measures light intensity, humidity, temp, etc. but we have not used it yet because our greenhouse is still under construction. http://www.onsetcomp.com/products/data-loggers/u12-012 We did pledge for the WiMotos and will get four motes whenever they ship. Unfortunately, we are spread across three different types of data logging equipment and not sure which we want to fully commit to. -They all have their advantages and shortcomings. We'll try them all out and let you know what we find out once our greenhouse is in full swing. It would be great if they were compatible enough that we could use all three different brands and bring the data into one central logging program.

Which engine-transmission-transfer case do you have? There is difference in fuel mileage between the smallest to largest engine. You are reporting 10 MPG. Perhaps you have the honking big V8 in yours. In the past, I owned a '92 Jeep Cherokee and now have a '98 Cherokee, both with the 6 cy in-line, 4 liter engines. In good weather, highway mileage is 20+ mpg, but in this brutal winter, it has dropped to 15-18 mpg. I have found three factors that affect the mileage of my Jeep: 1. Low tire pressure - about 2 mpg. Inflate to 30-32 psi will get this back. 2. Low coolant temperature - about 2 mpg. If the thermostat is not working properly or is rated to open at too low of a temperature, the engine never gets warm enough. For the worst of cold, you may consider a radiator cover, but don't forget to open it as soon as the temperature rises to 20 F or so. 3. Failed temperature sensor, the one that sends engine temperature to the engine controller. There is a little hit for 2-wheel drive versus 4-wheel drive, but not as much as might be imagined because the front drive shafts, differential, and universal joints are engaged all the time anyway. However, this statement holds only for the "full time" mode. If your transfer case has only "part time" drive when in 4-wheel drive, it should be disnegaged for regular driving on surfaced roads. The part time mode is only good for mud, sand, and snow where the wheels are free to slip. Part time mode forces both front and rear drive shafts to turn at the same speed - no center differential action. The drive train may bind and be damaged if operated in the part-time mode on paved roads, and will bind when turing. Small differences in tire circunference between the front and rear tire sets will cause binding in the drive train when in part-time mode on surfaces where the tires can get a grip. The part-time-only transfer case has very limited on-road use - its for off-road and getting out of mud holes.

A Hemi engine (the Hemi?) is named that because the combustion chambers have a hemispherical shape. This is one way of increasing the power that the engine can generate. Quadra-Trac II is Jeep's name for the traction-control system used on their trucks. It manages the amount of power going to each wheel based on how hard you step on the gas or the brake, the amount of traction each wheel has at the moment, etc.

Well, quite a pickle to be in, for both parties. The law will vary from state to state as to what the requirements are for reconnecting an existing garage door opener upon installing a new garage door. In California, we are required to test the safety reverse prior to reconnecting an existing lift. The majority of older machines still in operation are equipped with some sort of safety reverse. Older Overhead Door Company brand machines are notorious for ruining many a garage door. And in some units, the force settings are maxed out beyond the machines ability to reverse properly when obstructed. I know for a fact our technicians test this feature, because we "red tag" and cut the power cord on about 2 machines a year (which can also cause much tension with the homeowner - understandably). As a licensed contractor, we are bound by the law. With that being said, who's at fault here is still open to interpretation. Your 3 year old Craftsman would without a doubt be equipped with this safety reverse feature. You said your door was replaced recently, but people's idea of "recently" can vary - a lot - ha ha. A good installer should have tested the safety reverse while on site (regardless of state law). The owner's manual to the craftsman machine should state something to the effect that "Seasonal weather changes could require force/sensitivity adjustments." In colder weather a machine will require more pressure to get it to close normally, and less pressure when it is warmer. However, it should still reverse. Is some circumstances, if the obstruction (car tire, garbage can, container) is far off to one side, it can cause the door to come off the track and damage the top section, which would not be considered a standard obstruction. The reverse feature is made to save your life, not the car bumper or your garage door. Was the company that installed your door licensed? If not, you still have recourse through your state licensing board. I assume at this point that you've already contacted the company, I will be interested to hear what happened and what matter of resolution has taken place.
