I like to keep my trees up for a long time. I collect onaments. I take down the LR tree on the 3rd weekend & then all the rest by the 4th weekend in Jan. With a small LR, I have move furniture to put up the LR tree & then put it all back, not always to the exact same spot. The Christmas madness, all starts again for me in May when the Old World Christmas ornaments show up in stores, then Christmas in July & the ornaments arrive to Hobby Lobby in Aug. (Mom has hip surgery next month, so I'll see you all back here in July again. All the garden catalogs are drawing me away too. I'll miss you all until then! )

Well my Christmas decorations are still up and we're still enjoying them and I'm busy with crafting so not sure when things will be put away. I can't for the life of me remember how things were before I decorated for Christmas a month ago so it will be different I'm sure. I have a lot of accessories so will just choose something that I haven't used recently. Maybe do a bit of Valentine's theme for awhile, then get into more spring-like look after that. Always changing, I love playing with my house.

I still have mine up too. I don't remember where most of my other stuff is so I hope I discover it as I'm putting away Christmas stuff (probably MLKing holiday weekend). This year I found my powder room guest towels which I couldn't find since 2006. I thought I had given them away by mistake when I gave some Christmas stuff to goodwill.

I take pictures of everything as I change it seasonally. Easy to go back and see how things were. I always change it up some but it gives me a place to start.

Like most of you, I still have my decorations up also. But what *is* stopping me from taking them down is this urge to re-do things, even though I was happy w/the way things were before the decorations went up!

Maybe I should try a few new things just to satisfy my 'curosity'~what can it hurt, eh?

I take my decorations down this weekend, the weekend after all twelve days of Christmas are over. I actually saw a tree out for pick up on Christmas Day afternoon. It was so sad.

On to the question....I do not re-arrange much after taking down the Christmas stuff. I used to rearrange more when I would move every few years. The stuff I had just wasn't purchased with any one particular space in mind. Each living room was a bit different size and shape and flooring color. I'd get one or two pieces before the next move and just try to make it all work somehow. However, I've lived here long enough to slowly assemble my livingroom stuff into a cohesive group. There are minor things I can and do change, but not much. Tabletop decorations and artwork are changed a bit every few months, but I wouldn't classify that as re-redecorating. This is, however, a time for a good thorough cleaning since I'll be getting behind and under everything anyway.

One thing a friend does is to put up her "Christmas" village when her Christmas decorations get put away. Those villages really have very little Christmas to them, they are mostly just generic winter. For her, it keeps the physical stress of Christmas decorating AND visual stress of too much to admire at a minimum.

I'm finding myself in the same situation. In the last two days, I took down all my Christmas decorations and packed them away. I am so in the mood to redecorate now. I like things as they were before Christmas, but I feel like I need a change. I have some things that I've had packed away for a while. I may take them out and play around with them, see what I can come up with.

Duckie, you are right, the Villages probably are more 'winter' than Christmas. I'd just never thought of mine that way. Next year I will keep that in mind, thanks.

Patty, I think sometimes changing things around really makes you see your stuff differently--- and can give you a mental boost after having it the same old way. Between Christmas and Thanksgiving, I ended up rearranging my little living-room and entry way. What a difference it made, and I really like it. My DD did the furniture moving for me and had some ideas which worked. And now the Christmas stuff is down, I did my LR mantle different. Changed out a picture and some accessories. Besides, if you end up not liking the changes, its easy enough to put things back the same old way. LOL.

I love change but seem to be doing less all the time. I don't have the extra time I use to but I did redo alot after taking down Christmas decorations this year. Main reason is because most of it is still out in the shop.

I hope to have time this year to make alot of changes but we'll see how it goes.

I do like the opportunity to change things around a bit once the Christmas decs come down. I started packing everything away yesterday (Eeeeeek!) and as soon as my dining room table and floor are clear again, I'll set the table with my blue & white china and probably try and pick up those colors with accent pieces elsewhere in the dining and living rooms. Because I pretty much decorate the entire house for Christmas, it always feels so much more spacious and fresh once the decs are packed away. It's a great opportunity to move things around a bit. Our anniversary is January 15th and it's always my goal to have the house back to normal before then.

I do like to change things around in January. I am in the middle of it right now, and let me tell you, I am getting too OLD for all these shenanigans...WORK is a 4 letter word!!! Yikes!!

I started 'undressing' the house yesterday~what a chore! It's so much more enjoyable to put things up than take them down. I can honestly say I don't think I put out as much this year as in years past~started getting sick the day before Christmas and wasn't finished decorating, shopping(food and gifts), DD and family came and stayed 5 days, and was expecting 14 people for dinner on Christmas day. I needed to let something go. Once Christmas was over I *really* got sick, and decided I needed REST. I'm still 'resting'. LOL

It is so sad taking them down, but it sure feels great when everything is packed away. Like I mentioned in one of my post, I try to wash and clean all my glassware, some of it I haven't put back yet. I started my Valentine's decos yesterday. Also I am redoing my corner mantel with built in molding and mirrors. Of course one thing leads to another an so on and on. I took the old mirror and sconces down and DH said "Why are you starting on that today?". My reply, "Well it's not going to do itself, I promised him if we got all my projects done by our Mardi Gras party in February that we would look at a bigger TV for him, so he is taking it all in stride.
