Unfortunately, bad luck struck again! This time both babies hatched. The first one on a Wed, and the second on Thurs. Wed baby was doing quite well, but Thurs baby never made it completely out of the shell. I don't know if it was still alive or if it died, but that friday, I snapped a picture of them was horrified to see a fly in the nest. It was as big as the egg. It might have been one of those biting flies. I don't know, but I think it killed the babies. Come Saturday morning, the mama wasn't around anywhere. I snapped a pic, and both babies were comepletely shriveled like mummies. It was horrific! I saw the momma later in the day flying around and haven't seen her since. How sad, all of the mamma's hard work for nothing! Tania

It just breaks my heart to read posts like this. Our pets are such a wonderful part of our lives and its gut wrenching when they pass away. My thoughs and prayers are with you Pauline and Ann. Time does heal and one day you will feel the urge to find another pet. For me it was much like LindaC. Our Gretchen passed away about one month after my Mother left this earth and I also felt like I needed some time but boy it was so hard to come home to an empty home. As if guided by a higher power I went to a pet shop for just inquire about a breed and I fell head over heals with a pen of puppies. But I wasn't sure it would fly with the family as they too were greiving. I went back to that pet store 3 times before I was sure. Abbee and Apollo bring me joy every day....I know that in time both of you will find a pet that will fill that hole in your heart. PEACE! Susie

To make it even better - Add comfort and reduce stress on the hips by putting a pillow between your knees. Use a pillow of moderate height to support the head. Try a water pillow that can be easily adjusted. If there is room, stretch arms out front. If you have high blood pressure, try sleeping on the left side. If you are prone to kidney stones on one side, side-sleep on the other side.

Thank you for the reply! Since I posted this, I have been considering a wood frame instead, since it seems tricky to properly secure the fabric to a pvc frame. I didn't really consider metal, because it sounds like a lot of work to do it properly, not to mention purchasing a lot of tools. It would also be a challenge to secure the fabric. Would metal be better than wood? I know the risks of wood (mold, rot, etc), but I figure since this is my first greenhouse, it would ok to start with something less expensive (2x4's and deck stain), and if I like it then I can always spend the money on a real cedar frame. Honestly though, if I was going to spend that much money on cedar, I wouldn't trust my shoddy woodworking skills to build with it. I essentially live in an irrigated desert, so we don't get snow and with the exception of el nino years, we don't get much rain either. The idea of building it myself was to keep the cost down and keep the husband happy (he hates my fish!). Once I venture into the realm of buying tools, I have to start comparing the cost to one of the pre-made kits (like this one Abba Patio Greenhouse). I really appreciate the input, as i have been planning this project for over a month now and am still no closer to even starting! Edit: I also wanted to mention that another reason I'm not to worried about the frame rotting is that I plan on keeping the greenhouse well ventilated by rolling up one of the sides during the warm months (usually April to October). I don't plan on keeping very humid inside, since the comfort zone for the fish is between 65 and 80. I have been keeping them outside in the summer successfully for years, just not in the winter. We live in zone 10a if that's any help.
