Some Things....

As you know by know I don't do tablesettings and I don't get into the other holiday decorating so I really don't have a lot to contibute other than things I've found to give inspiration.

So here's some things...

I was playing with the editing program that came w/my camera and the different effects I could achieve. I took the original pic because I liked how the light was hitting it and it looks surreal to begin with - then I added a "sunset" wash(Kodak Easyshare)effect - plus manipulating brightness/contrast/shadow and created something I wish I could get at times just pointing and clicking. LOL

So here's some inspiration - play around with your photo editing programs and see what happens.

You did a good job...I love the reddish tones that the picture took on with your filtering!!
I also love the kitchens with the red.....yep, I'm a red freak.

Looks like you will be busy with your new stuff! I like your swing too! Are you going to put different pic in each "pane" or 1 thing flowing from pane to pane? country scene-walking down road or stream & background etc. Guess would be lot harder doing 1 scene. Someone on mosaics did a river on her stair risers & it was beautiful! Keep us posted on your progress! Jan

The best thing we did- We have an additional back family foyer/ mud room that had one of those builder standard desks that is next to our kitchen we have to pass to get to the walk in pantry. I took out the built in desk and extended the kitchen by adding a stack of 30" wide drawers and a 15" cabinets, I also added upper cabinets an X Bin wine box and relocated the under mount microwave from the main part of the kitchen, this gave us so much more storage and added a wine/ coffee bar which helps with flow of traffic when entertaining. I use the bottom drawer for all my appliances, like an appliance garage. I have counter tops and outlets so it's quick and easy to use the toaster and such and then get it stored away quickly. I also love how I have a counter top to directly throw the grocery's when I'm coming in at the end of the day with my little ones. I was hesitant about taking the microwave out of the main kitchen area but love loosing the eye sore in my open concept kitchen/ dining and living space and that I was able to make room for a double oven.

The large container with minis looks great---as do the larger containers. What kind of rectangular containers are they? What media do you use for the hosta in them? How would you overwinter them?

Your "playing" brought fabulous results! I have Kodak EasyShare also but really haven't experimented with it.

Jim I think both pictures look lovely--just depends on which you prefer I think. Nice to have that feature on your camera so you can choose. Where do you find us so many inspiration photos of tables? They are great!

I have been saving pics out of my old magazines so I can scan them and share them here, but I'm going to need my DH to help me figure out where the heck they go when I scan them in! LOL I'm sure it is an easy answer, but he got me a Mac laptop this time, and I have to say I really miss my old computer--I had finally figured most things I needed out on it--this one is a bit different, and a computer guru I'm not! Luvs - usually I find pics while browsing for other things, no rhyme or reason too it, just luck at times.

I thought one of the big reasons behind the popularity of the Mac was that it's soo user friendly - it's ironic you did better on the complicated PC. ;) LOL
Soon you'll have it mastered.

I thought this shot of Miss Kitty was cool - w/all the editing/manipulation it ended up looking like it's been painted.

I came across this interior designer's shop in Kansas City - wouldn't it be fun to have all these goodies to play with?

Jim, Miss Kitty is a beauty-- pretty as a picture, and she apparently knows it.

That red velvety couch in the second to last picture is exactly the thing I'm looking for for my livingroom...

Jim, you really need to mat and frame that pic of Miss Kitty. That is a great picture, very pretty with the floral background, looks like it could be an oil painting.

Ahh! That shop looks neat and expensive. Enjoyed seeing all the plates they had displayed. Jenn, that red sofa would be so perfect for you! Almost looks like tufting on the seat of it? And what a rich color of red.

Wow, great pic's Jim. That is cool you can "play" with your photos on your camera, I am so computer and camera dumb which it comes to the "manipulating" factor of cameras. I agree with Luvs, that is a great photo of Miss Kitty!

Love the shop too, I could go nuts in there, love all the blue and white, the furniture, there are alot of things I could really go for in there, I would have to stay far away from there (unless I won the lottery) LOL

Thanks for all the inspiration photos too, I always love to see what you post!

Judith it's great to see you posting again!!!

I would get the gimmie's as my mom would say, in that shop too.

Here's another pic I played around with - it's kind of fun finally being able to manipulate a cat without getting scratched or attitude. LOL

Ha, now I'm starting to get visions of Miss Kitty as a Warhol painting... four in a square in different colors. :)

I agree with Luvs on matting and framing that photo of Miss Kitty, it really looks like a painting. I sometimes play in Photo Editor or with my Kodak albums. Kodak has great effects and borders and stuff to play with. Simple enough for ME to use, LOL. I'M not computer programmed for anything complicated.
