Maxima or Dakota for long trip?

My husband will be driving to West Virginia. It's a 300 mile trip. We have a 2000 Maxima and a 2004 Dakota. Would either vehicle make it there without stopping for gas?

I drive a 97 chevy pickup and get 400 miles per tank of fuel (about 21 gallons) I would think that either one of those two vehicles would do that well or better unless they have awful small gas tanks and the man has real bad driving habits LOL. Why would he not want to stop for fuel anyway? I always have to stop every 100 miles or so just to stretch my legs a bit.

Most vehicles will go at least 300 miles on a tank, so I'd guess that either vehicle would make the trip without stopping for gas.

I could tell you got one by the message on my machine the night of return, even though only the last couple of words came through. Can't wait to see more pictures, although don't you know that you can find pales in northern Jackson county, MO, where they intergrade with syspila? In northwestern Jackson, you can find syspila/gentilis/multistriata that blow the common multistriata out of the water -- long live Marshall. I don't have any specific advice for any of the areas you are visiting but do want to recommend www.restaurant.com. I've used it traveling and in my own city. You can view the menus online before you go and then buy a savings certificate and print it right out. I never had a problem with using this service. You will probably be eating out a lot when traveling and the savings really add up. It is great to view the menus beforehand and get a map to the location. You can even make reservations online too. The offering include small independant ethnic restaurant to upscale supper clubs - no chains. ------------- I see you may be travelling through The Badlands. Check out Jewel cave in the area. Your entire wardrobe is going to change, not just coats, longjohns and gloves. In my 9+ yrs in St Paul, I found that I never wore shorts in the evening from Labor Day until midMay. Sleeveless - not so much except for a couple of weeks in August. I steered away from poly/rayon clothing and instead went with the highest cotton or wool content I could find. Natural fibers are better IMO for staying warm or cooling down during mosquito season. My wardrobe of slacks increased in number pretty quickly. I initially bought Sorel boots but found them to be too clunky and heavy to wear so I switched over to LL Bean duck shoes and I bought separate Dr Scholl's liners. Not at the top of the style-o-meter but when the snow is high and you are cold, who gives a hoot about style. Breathing bitterly cold air hurts the nose and lungs. I used scarves and wrapped them around my nose/mouth when outside, waiting for the bus etc. In MN, most winter days were really sunny. The lack of cloud cover allows all the warm air generated at ground level to dissipate. result, the beautiful sunny days are the colder days. I've lived in NY, MI, IL and MN. Of those 4 states, MN is the one where people are outdoors year round. If you let the weather dictate your lifestyle in MN and ND, you will be indoors 1/2 the year. Just layer up. If you move into a house with a yard/garden near sidewalks, do NOT use salt on the sidewalks. It kills vegetation. as Faron said, sand, sand, sand is your friend. My mother in law, who lives near Dallas, made one trip to visit when we lived in MN and she would not come back from Nov to Mar. You may find the same with potential visitors...

Reif said that at his branch alone, about 50 people have called wanting to open an account because they were so taken by the gesture." Yeah, 'unexpected'. Riiiiiight. That's why they hired an Oprah look-a-like with a duplicate set, to host the announcement. The whole thing is a marketing ploy and I would love to revisit this thread July 1, 2008 to see what great deeds have been performed. Is the list going to be made public? The employees get free money to give to whomever they want, and the whole thing is a huge tax write-off for the bank garnering tons of publicity to attract investors to the bank. I'd be more impressed if each one of them donated a kidney or something. Or banded together to forgo their hefty end of the year bonus and donated that. Call me a cynic and a realist. Should be easy to figure out by doing the math. Total fuel tank capacity (take off one gallon, as nobody can actually run the tank 100% dry) and divide by average MPG. That will tell you how far you can go on a tank. Pretty obvious, so perhaps you have already done this. If your driving is a combo of city plus freeway, then you will have to use a simple or weighted average to come up with the MPG estimate.

Much better is the Diesel, in a rationally sized car, 600 to 700 miles on a tank is easily possible..
Most filling stations are clean, there is no odious fuel smell, Diesel fueling is even safer..

Earthworm, I musta missed something. Diesel, take the maxima better mpg. Its has the v6 and i driven 400 w/ mine when i owned it on freeway driving.

If you will be on paved roads at all times, take the Maxima. It's more confortable, gets better gas mileage, and may be safer than the truck (at speed) on rain slicked roads.

If you will be traveling on unpaved roads at any time including gravel, or if you will be hauling sizeable cargo, take the truck.

The truck can handle gravel better than the car, and why beat the underside and fenders of a nice car when you have an alternative.
