Luvs said you have a white tree branch that you decorate, could you please post some photos of yours for me, I tried makeing one but I am not pleased with mine and need to see photos, or tell me as to where to go, I tried doing a search but gosh there are so many under your name.

For what its worth, Oddie, I think your rose tree turned out nice. And the "idea" behind it is something that could be played with and done so many ways. Looks like fun!

My DH rescued an old 8HP tiller on it's way to the dumpster and revived it. Smoky, noisy thrashing beast that it is, it does till the soil quite well. We can till up grassy areas into rough garden areas in mere minutes. Our next big garden adventure will be to get compost from the mushroom farm and till that in. There are several gardening tools which I've become quite fond of, one of them is a titanium rock climber's hand pickaxe (I'm sure rock climber's have a specific name for these things) which makes a great weeding tool and small digger. It was a dollar at a garage sale and I'm certain I really do not want to know how much someone paid for the thing to take climbing with them but it makes a great garden tool. Another good garden tool we found at a yard sale is a five tine adjustable cultivator which was fifty cents although it did need to have a handle put on it. This hand cultivator gets used a lot after the garden has had the original tilling done with the machine. Small sections get cultivated before being reseeded after their crops have finished. We have a reel push mower with a grass catcher so it is a good way to get mulch for the garden path. There is also the scythe for the taller grass which also makes nice mulch and compost. We are also populating the yard with furniture. Benches scattered about, hammocks, lawn and lounge chairs. It is much nicer and now we can go hang out and be comfortable in the back yard.

Hi Jen I put lantana in the sand. Recently plopped some cannas into the bed - running out of container-garden space, and my Black-n Blue Salvias. Salvia Coral Nymph get nice, even in the unamended sand. I can send ya some seeds,if ya want. But I start the seeds in pots, first. I wouldn't try to plant any seed in the sand, except for maybe Hyacinth Beans or those other peas that vine and bloom - Indigo Peas. This spring, I had a great marigold garden even though I didn't add anything to the sand. And bouganvillea grows even in rocks and oyster shells. I also put in my passion vines along the fence. In the front gardens that don't border along the orange grove and may have better soil from 30 years ago when someone probably put in some sod - I put angelonia, torenia and dahlias (but the dahlias haven't bloomed much. They were plants from seeds this spring, so they may need more time) and you could plant crape myrtles, duranta, tibuchina and daylillies in sand. I'm sure there's lots more - these are just the ones I've recently put into our yard that we just moved to. I've had good luck with this stuff in other Florida-sand yards, too. One thing, though, it really helps to have an irrigation system. The old owners of this place put roses, azaleas and caladiums in, plus some petunias for curb appeal, and they really perked up when we moved in and turned on the pump regularly. It never seems to rain enough!

Terri, Thank you for explaining about the soy candles. I've always been disappointed with the scented candles not smelling strong enough for very long. I'm going to check the soy candles out. I love your flower pot. I thought it was something with a flat top that you had stuff sitting ON, but I see you have stuff sitting IN. ;~) I can't see a lot of detail in the pic of your grandmother's cake plate, but it sounds beautiful. And those Dirt Bombs look delicious.

Oddie, I sent her an email. She hasn't been posting for a couple of days, but hope she comes back soon. In the meantime I will see if I can find an old post with her tree and bump it up for you to see. Luvs

Oddie, take a look here to see her tree decorated for St. Pat's day. She found some darling ornaments for it.

Her's is big, but same concept as your little one--so many possibilities. I love your rose and crystal idea--just my kind of thing! ;o)

Thank you luvs! omg thats a real tree size! guess I was thinking table top size, very pretty !might have to go into the woods and find a small tree instead, thanks agine luvs for takeing the time to find the post!

Oddie, Sorry I didn't get a chance to reply sooner. Luvs, thanks for finding that pic for Oddie.

I bought my tree 20 years ago and it is showing signs of wear and tear now for sure. It is a "real" tree set into plaster of paris in a cheap pot. Then the pot can be put into a nice container. I wish I knew what kind of tree it is as I would love to do a new one. I did make a smaller one several years ago, but it didn't hold up. I think the type of wood makes the difference.

Thanks sandi, not sure I have room for one that size, so guess I will stay with my little tree for now, love how you decorated yours, sooo cute!
