Just replacing the valve does not fix the car Jem. The problem is caused by chunks of carbon breaking off and being drawn into the valve when it is operating normally. One aftermarket solution was to create an EGR gasket that has a screen in it. This works to keep the valve clear, but eventually leads to a complete blockage of the passage between the exhaust and the valve. The software update fixes the problem. The way the system was originally designed, they used the drivers (transistors) in the PCM to open the valve and spring pressure to close it. The reflash causes the computer to power the valve closed as well as open, plus increases the current to the motor, operating it with more torque which effectively crunches the carbon up and allows it to pass on through the valve. You have seen me write about how cars have really been changing, and how shops and techs need to work harder and harder just to try and keep up with the changes in the technology, do you realize this is a 15 year old car, and the bulletin and the reprogram strategy to fix this came out about 12 years ago? Imagine trying to multiply this by the dozens of things that could go wrong on any one system such as this EGR, times the number of totally different systems on a car, times the number of different cars (approx 280 models per year), times fifteen, the average life expectancy of today's cars. Is that a pretty big number for the possible repairs a technician could face any given day? That's why the number of times that even I can narrow down someones description of a problem here and give them an answer is so few. Even If I have seen something fifty times (and this one would be in that range) there is no way that I could reliably say for certain what the problem is this time. Now with the confirmation of the valve being held open, the fix must include doing the reflash to the newest software, otherwise the car's problem will return.

I'm quite frankly floored by people at their "assumptions". QUESTION to those so sanctimonious.... If someone asked to use your MASTER Bathroom, would you??? It's not about not being "decent" by not wanting some stranger in the place where you bathe and keep your feminine essentials and medications. That's all FINE and good for those of you who have a Powder Room, maybe on the main floor or by a kitchen... but what about for those of us who only have ONE bathroom? YES, believe it or not, houses like that DO exist. I rent a house and they had to have contractors here to do work. I was floored and totally uncomfortable with the fact that the first day on the job, a young helper asked to use the bathroom within 10 minutes of getting to the job and then was in there for literally 15 minutes... really??? He couldn't do that business before he got to the job? Got over it in a minute... but then, second day, again, same helper asked to use my main bathroom right before going to lunch... and is in there again, 10 minutes to do his number 2? He couldn't go during lunch? If it were hours after lunch? Hey, we're human... Or if this were a rural area.... But, I'm literally less than a mile from a main strip of Malls and restaurants and gas stations. They even head to Home Depot at least once a day during the job, which is 1 mile away and also go for an hour lunch. NO, I'm not inhospitable and indecent, but my Bathroom where I bathe is an intimate place. Stop lynching the people who think workers should be just a little considerate about it at least.

The mock up is a little box, shaped to scale like the room. Here's a pic of the ceiling: Inside the hole you see is the current light fixture, which is a hanging lantern currently installed in the room. They left the two walls blank so we could talk placement of furniture. His bed is a 1930's style bed, and it will be beneeth the monkey tree so below that will mostly be foliage. It won't be tucked tight against the window wall. On one side there will be a stack of antique suitcases (all made child safe) with his other lantern (when I find one good for a child's room). Then he has a short amoire which will go between the bed and the closet wall (the other blank wall). They'll paint some monkeys high in a tree playing with the giraffe above it, but still do the foliage all around the room. His only other piece of furniture is a small toy storage unit, in black wood and wicker. It will go in the corner opposite the lion, again blocking only foliage, not animals :) On the floor we'll have a few worn rugs like you might see in an African safari tent now a days, and then there will still be the canvas curtains in each corner. There are wood supports on each wall and around the ceiling like crown molding, which will appear to be holding the tent up. We have to keep the bed fairly simple so it won't block too much (It's not a huge room). I picked up some wonderful faux furs from Diva Design Fabrics for nothing which I will make into huge throw pillows for the floor, and I also picked up several of those $1.99 twin cotton duvets from Ikea on our last trip outside which I'll be using for his comforters. I've also been collecting seffra bedding (twin size) in white, tan an browns, for his bed decor. They're amazingly cheap if you only get one or two things (like a brown pillow slip etc). I love ebay LOL The back wall, where the lion is, and the window wall, are the primary decorative walls. They're not really good for furniture placement given that they have a door opening up into the room (which would hide the lion somewhat when open all the way) and then the window, which is off center on the shorter wall. The long wall with the monkey and giraffe are the best for furniture. I'm also having his closet built out on the inside so he won't need a dresser in the room. (We have one just outside the room in the family room that we will be using for him). I want to leave as much floor space as possible for play. I can't wait until they get started :) Today I have to go paint the closet doors and the trim in the base colors. The artist that is doing the walls is still at work upstairs, but he'll be done on Tuesday, then he'll be working on the mural with his wife who is also an artist (she does the animals, he does the trees). I know it's an over the top room :) LIterally with that ceiling, but for both DH and myself, it's nice to imagine him enjoying it, since we had many times in his first year that we didn't expect him to make it to toddlerhood. And having my design come to life (I could NEVER have done this well) is really a kick. Gad knows in two years the kid will want Star Wars on the walls LOL. But we'll try to talk him out of that for a while. Hopefully Sue is right, his friends might talk him out of it instead :)

We are currently building a house and we have a 3 car garage. it's similar to yours, but I don't have my laundry room bumping into my garage. We used 3 separate garage doors, but they are all 10' wide (8' tall). We have already used our garage for pulling our vehicles into during this winter and I can't imagine having our single garage doors less than 10' as it would be harder to back out of if you are reversing out of the garage. I love the look of the 3 single doors, but in my mind, they definitely have to be oversized for better accessibility. If 10' doors won't fit into your plan, I would do a double door instead. Also, our garage is 38' long which allows all the doors of our vehicles to open completely without hitting the next vehicle. We decided that 38' was good for us after we actually went out and measured our vehicles across with their doors opened. I would suggest you do the same.
