Thank you Paul. They were packaged separately. I've forgotten the names, but one group was suppose to be light pink, and another was "midnight." They all are purple w/yellow throats. Even the hyacinths are purple, but they were mixed. I put some dehyrated cow manure in the beds last month around specific plants. I wouldn't have intentionally put any over the tulips, but some could have accidentally spilled a little. That's all I could think of for why these tulips are all this nasty shade of purple (other than mislabelling). Thank you for your response. =) ~MH

Thanks for the input so far. A few other pieces of info. 1) I increased the amount of water (sometimes sequential days, sometimes longer duration) starting about 3 weeks ago when I first noticed the problem (thinking it was not ENOUGH water that was the problem - I'm sure that's a common response). 2) On the edges of the lawn where there is treated lumber edging I've been dowsing the lawn w/ a hose since that seemed to be more yellow a few weeks ago and/or I thought perhaps my Melnor fan sprinkler wasn't hitting the edges enough. Those edges seem very lush and green. 3) On some spots near the Yucca palm I have where I drove in palm food spikes, the lawn is also noticeably greener (circles 8"-12" right where the spikes went in). So I'll experiment a little w/ the watering volume & frequency (less of each, though maybe in a small patch I'll do more.) Will keep apprised.

It receives morning sunlight until around 12:30 but the temperature in LA has been lower than 85 F for the past 3 weeks. I moved it to another location where it receives filtered sunlight. Hopefully it'll start to open up. Thank you!

That's sun burn, it seems. By looking at the picture I can see that the sun burnt leaves are the lower ones, which means that when you first put this plant in the sun you didn't do it gradually, the plant wasn't prepared and it got burnt, but since then new leaves have grown pushing the burnt ones to the bottom. I think that in a couple of weeks more those leaves will finally get dry, fall off and you will forget about this incident :)
