2 different style handrails on 1 staircase?

My trim guys, who usually do a pretty great job, installed a rather crooked handrail on the wall going up our back stairs. This staircase is only 3 ft wide and the larger handrail used for the balusters at the bottom seems too big going up the wall in my opinion. The fact that it's crooked is another issue, but I wonder how many of you would use, or have used, a smaller, simpler profile handrail along the wall of your staircase. The company who made our stair components has a wall rail with a round and oval option, which my builder said he'd use if I want, but he also said it's uncommon to have 2 different profiles and/or sizes on one staircase. I kinda want to see what you all think before we have them pull this off. For reference, they never asked me what I wanted for the wall rail; I got there today and was surprised to see this up.
