Your wording suggests you would like to try to adjust the cable if possible? Typical Honda cable adjustments are at the top end of the outer cable @ the handle. Hopefully yours is the same.

Hey, try this. How often does one answer their own solution. This was frustrating me so much that I got it in the garage turned up the heat jacked the wheels up and tore into it. What I wound up doing was to pull the friction wheel shaft out again and flipping the wheel over, as I was looking at it I saw that the drive wheel was only moving within one side of the flywheel. This only took about an hour and is working like a champ now. It just took a little pondering over and then it hit me, good to use some extra brain cells now and then. If you are having a similar problem well then here is your solution. Good luck

I think in order to use the output shaft we'd have to somehow run it into the holding bin for the compost. After a few beers the other night, I think we are now going to use a snowblower for the drive mechanism and just have the applicator wheels turn from being driven over the ground. We can have the applicator wheels free-wheel for transport and lock them up to apply the compost. This way the compost bin and applicator can be more easily made wider than the stance of the blower itself. As far as an internal agitator, if we need one, we can run that off the main wheels from the applicator with a small set of wheels driving a shaft through the bin. We do want to make it narrow enough to get through any gates yet wide enough so that it doesn't take all day to do a lawn. I'm thinking 24 - 30 inches. We also thought that maybe we could have different widths of applicators that we can change as needed. We have to consider the weight of a full bin and handling characteristics but that may be more of case of how large to make the applicator holding bin. By taking off all the "front end" of the blower and putting on the applicator/bin, we are hoping the balance doesn't get too out of whack. Is any of this making sense? I can visualize what we want to do but it's damn hard explaining it. Not to mention we keep changing ideas as we drink more beer. I wish I'd taken an engineering course of some kind. :-) Lloyd

OK. Listen up people. In the 60s oils were developed for Jet aircraft which operated in the extreme cold (like -50) at 35000 + feet and yet could handle the extreme operating temperatures ( 300 + degrees ) generated by the jet turbine engine, basically a giant blowtorch. These are what we now know as "Synthetic" oil or hydraulic fluid. I live in Northern Canada where in the winter I have experienced -55 degrees F. and summer temperatures of 120F. Cold Temperatures such as this cause oil not to flow where needed, to seals and bearings and bushings, and to seize or wear out or just break or don't function. Synthetic fluid continues to flow at these extremely low temperatures, therefore the components are lubricated, do not dry up, and do not break. As well the load on your starter is less, quick start without overheating your electricals. Very high temperatures (+80) have a similar effect on normal oil by causing it to break down from the engine/system heat into it's constitute parts and thereby lose lubricity. Synthetic oils do not break down inl heat, again all the parts are lubricated and can withstand the loads on them. I know it is much more money to run Synthetic fluids, but the savings in time, Repairs, and frustration is worth it. Synthetic fluid costs more, but your change intervals are longer, therefore it works out to about the same. When you first use Synthetic you will find everything starts to loosen up and work much easier. It is important to choose the right Synthetic for each load application. Here in Canada, Toyota now uses only their Synthetic at about $5.00/ quart on their vehicles since their research proved that it worked better, and they had fewer service recalls. I change my Synthetic every three months, my hydraulic fluid once a year. At -40 my Kubota starts every time and runs better than the day I bought it used. If you can't afford to use Synthetic all the time, just replacing one quart in your engine with Synthetic will cause wonders. All the best, lubricate and save on repairs.
