I'm sorry. I didn't see your post until after I posted my own rant against Liebherr. Here's what I wrote: As a soon-to-be former Liebherr owner, I will never recommend Liebherr appliances to anyone as from our personal experience their service was horrible and they do not take responsibility for their own products' failures and shortcomings. Their door hinges on our 30" REF started failing within 6 months of ownership. We have decorative panels on the appliance fronts but everything was done to their recommended specs yet the company tried to blame their shortcomings on the cabinet company we hired! We thought this would've been laughable except they left us in the lurch with a long drawn out fight for them to repair or replace the hinges! In comparison, we have a 36" French Door Thermador fridge in our main kitchen upstairs and the hinges are clearly superior and much stronger than the Liebherr. We thought for our lower level kitchen we'd take a chance on a lesser cost Leiber built-in but were wary of the fact that they were relatively unknown in the US. We kick ourselves now for not sticking with our initial concerns. This is one case where I can say "you get what you pay for". We wish we would've spent a few more bucks and got something more reliable. NO - I don't work for a competitor or appliance company either! I just would like to share our bad experience to possibly help some folks considering a Liebherr refrigerator. To be fair, I do not have experience with any of their other products but if you want to be "penny wise and pound foolish" - Get yourself a Liebherr! Or better yet, want to buy a slightly used one for cheap?

The paint is (Benjamin Moore) Impervex Latex High Gloss Metal & Wood Enamel, and it comes pre-made in Black. That's what I get. It's expensive! Here (Boulder, CO) one gallon is $57. The reason I use it is because it's what I was told at the paint store umpteen projects ago. I should probably check out Valspar and / or Behr but a bird in the hand ... and I want all the doors to match. (The SW store is a bit of a drive, which is why I didn't mention it.) For my children's rooms I'm planning on just painting the hall-side of their doors, not the side which faces into their bedrooms. I'm planning that because I don't want to introduce that much black into their rooms and then I'm concerned I'd have to paint their closet doors too. And I don't want to do that either. (lazy) Thank you for asking about my tiles! You are too sweet. They were laid a couple of weeks ago and I just got finished putting the second coat of wall color on. Seriously, I am like one year ahead of schedule. Yea!!! I still have to paint the cabs and then do my gingham effect on the walls, so now I'm one year out again. I think I haven't been really enjoying the tiles yet because they've been covered with a dropcloth and I am instead focusing on what isn't done, instead of enjoying what is. Sister, I am going to turn over a new leaf!

The first one was my favorite, too. And the first that really caught my eye. Although I do think the third one is kind of cool looking also, I was wondering whether it might be "too much" for the house in some way. Joanie, I see what you are saying about the frosted glass re: privacy issues, but we have so much clear glass in our house-- between the large LR windows and a huge amount in the back of the house-- that I don't want to introduce any frosted glass. Besides, we have lived as long as we have with the big clear glass sidelights and found we are not bothered by this. And we are set back pretty far from the street.

I like green, but the bright lime green is too strong for my bland taste and I'm not sure I'd be brave enough (I also have two very prominent lime green plants right at the bottom of the deck). I think a compromise might be a pea-soupy kind of green that sort of blends the gold and lime green. I like the orange too, but the deck is cedar and I'm planning on refinishing it and oiling it this summer and that should give it quite an orangey look - definitely thinking green would go best with that.
