Another Outdoor Grill Question
Comments (5)I can say that my old Ducane is appx. 416 sq. inches on the main level, not incl. the warming rack. We have entertained for as many as 20 people and there were definitely times where I had to cook in stages. The new Firemagic is 660 sq inches (sitting in the garage) and I anticipate it being large enough although 1/3 of the bottom has the sear zone. I say if you can afford it go w/the 36. BTW, the comment above is one of the few things I dont like about this site. People who dont answer your question but instead only comment on what a poor decision you are making. (you should have gone with the firemagic LOL)...See MoreBuilt-in outdoor gas grill recommendations
Comments (7)I've been looking at the built-in Firemagic and Lynx grills and while I like a lot the Firemagic from a technical point of view, I can't get over the 2" wide stainless steel band around the edge to support the grill on the counter top. It seems this should be hidden under the counter top (granite, tile, etc) but all the pictures and displays I've seen show it sitting on top. What were they thinking? Why would anyone want that 2" band around the grill? It would look horrible sitting on a nice counter top. The Lynx and others have a much nicer way to seat the grill on a built in base. Am I being too picky?...See MoreLynx Grill or Other Outdoor Grill Recs
Comments (4)I am a lifelong Weber charcoal kettle user and fan. However, since we also grill at least a couple times a week year round, last fall I decided to buy a gas grill for the sake of the convenience of just turning a knob on verses lighting and waiting for coals to be ready. I decided on the Lynx, it seemed to have the best fit and finish, and is very well built. We're empty nesters, so the 30" is all we really needed. The rotisserie works well, and is fun to use. I did get one infra red sear burner, and it does get hotter than the burner over the ceramic briquettes, but doesn't seem to cook as evenly, nor sear anything close to real charcoal! I'm glad I kept the Weber, and I find myself still using it more for things like steaks. While the gas is convenient, IMO there's just no substitute for cooking over real charcoal....See MoreLynx v. Alfresco
Comments (1)I am in a similar spot, don't know if you ever got a response. But Lynx, Alfresco and Fire Magic are on my short list. I want at least one infrared burner, the internal smoker box with dedicated burner is also nice. I especially like the rotisserie design on the Alfresco. But I do like the cast burner design on the Lynx and Fire Magic. Would love to hear some owner comments on either of these brands....See MoreMichelleDT
