I bought three 10 cubic yard truckloads of compost from a "certified" compost maker. Being certified they supposedly were required to measure the temperature of their huge piles twice a day. They were associated with a horse stable that at the peak had 220 horses supplying manure for their piles, which they mixed with the wood shavings bedding. So they knew what was going into their compost and controlled every step. It was good stuff, didn't smell and didn't attract flies, and was double screened so didn't have any of the usual plastic bags, soda cans, and broken glass you often find in commercial compost. That said, even though they claimed it was weed free I have more weeds coming up on my property than any of my neighbors, particularly in areas where I spread the compost. Most annoying is some tall, coarse meadow grass that has sprouted all over my property, and I am the only one in the area that has this so I am sure it came from viable seeds in the compost. So if even the best stuff one can buy made in piles six to eight feet high and containing hundreds of cubic yards can't get the compost hot enough to kill grass and weed seeds, I don't see how a little drum containing maybe one cubic yard maximum could get hot enough.

Helen I think you're right about my mystery flowers being Spring Beauty. Thank you! If I planted that, I've forgotten. I planted Jane five years ago and I'd guess that it's 6 to 8 feet tall now and still not blooming heavy enough to call it showy. It gets some competition from a Tulip tree so it might be doing better by now if it was planted in a better spot. I'm ashamed - I finally broke down and bought the Canon that has a 50x zoom lol. I got a good deal on it. Best Buy matches some dot com prices now. Amazon is one and they had the lowest price so I showed them that price at the register at Best Buy and they matched it. I also had reward zone bucks to take off of the price plus another 20 for applying for a BB charge card back before Christmas so it got the price down to 340. That's more than I intended to spend but I still had some Santa cash and I "needed" a good camera. : ) It seems to be working great for macro or zooming either one, but if the camera is zoomed all the way out, it's difficult to keep the subject centered. If you move the camera even a little, you've lost sight of it. I haven't messed around with macro much yet but this one is of buds on my Mohawk viburnum and the lens was very close. I need to try it out on some bugs or butterflies.

The easy way is too look at the label, usually in the freezer. It will give model # (which are usualy a group of letters) and serial # (a group of numbers, which your posted # most likely is). It also usually (but not always) included cubic space of the freezer and refrigerator sections. Or you can measure the exterior. Most of your older full sized refrigerators are going to be 36" wide by 70" tall and 32" deep and are around 25 cubic feet. Counter depth will have the box be only 24" and the cubic space is smaller, usually around 21 cubic fet. Newer insulation technology, and deeper front to back depths give "full sized" fridges 27 to 29 cubic feet. A 33" wide fridge will be approximately 19-22 cubic feet depending on height and depth. A 30" wide fridge will be between 15 and 19 cubic feet, again depending on height and depth. A more usefull overall measurement is actually shelf space. But it's not one that most manufacturers will list. Also, how a fridge is laid out will also have more impact on actual usability than gross cubic feet will. A french door fridge with 21 cubic feet capacity may have more usable shelf space than a 27 cubic foot side by side simply because it's organized better and with more continuous shelf space.

I have an all gas 30" Wolf with the 5 inch riser, all of which are a little more than 1 year old. I have a glass backsplash. I too experience exactly what you are experiencing regarding the condensation on the backsplash. The condensation is so much that it literally drips down the backsplash. BUT, when I turn my hood on the condenstaion dries up quickly. I have a FABER (Stilo) hood, 600 CFMS. Level 2 dries up the backsplash pretty quickly. if I remember to fire up the hood while I'm heating up the oven I don't see any condensation on the bs at all. I've had another issue with my Wolf range, regarding the ignition on the stovetop constantly clicking even when the fire is on. Although they have been very helpful, they have said some stuff that just isn't true. ie: NOBODY EVER complains about this. You are the first complaint we've had about this. Well, in the research I have done, YES, people do complain about it. So long story short, I guess you can't believe everything they say???...and it seems you're going to get condensation from this gas range. I know I do. I hope your hood is powerful enough to dry it up!!!! I've never had a "pro" range, or a backsplash, or a hood before in my life, so I'm learning stuff as I go along. Hope this helps :) ~E
