Boy!!!! Seems like a lot to go through for the 'greatest carefree perennial'? Why don't you just plant them in the ground where they are to grow? You can mulch them if it is really hot and make sure they don't dry out. Pots????? I can't imagine they would do better in pots than in the soil where they can stretch out and find the moisture and nutrients they need. Just my thoughts, but I wonder why everyone makes growing daylilies so difficult. I plant, hybridize, never ever water or fertilize (except what the chickens contribute as they wander through) and have lovely healthy gardens not overly bothered by pests of any nature. Sometimes I think people really want to make life a problem or perhaps some people just don't realize that it is supposed to be simple. Nature cares for its own as long as you don't spray or use synthetic fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides ETC. ETC. ETC. The good bugs will come if there is something to eat.

Good or bad, I am lowering the ph of all my Sans. after reading that they go as low as 5 to 6.5. Most mixes are in the natural range 7. The lower ph, will help them take up nutrients in the soil and help their general health. Fungus can't live in low ph and I don't think many bugs can either. I noticed the pick-up on my Huernia immediately. I'll let you know.

Yes, due to the rain it was canceled, hopefully next weekend will be good for digging. I wish more people was interested for some plants cause I have a lot of babies popping up. I also have some Brazilian Rock Rose these are great for container planting too, I had mine in a container the first year and the over wintered in the pots outside just fine. So if you know of anyone else looking for some plants you can dig up extras.
