Has anyone installed a electrolux icon all refrigerator/all freezer lately. I would like to have a all refrigerator/ all freezer, however, subzero, and the columns all seem to be out of by budget range.

any info will be a big help and thanks in advance.

Does yesterday count as 'lately'? ;-) We just installed/plugged in our 2 Electrolux all fridges and 1 all freezer. I obviously don't have an long-term use info to share, but I'd be glad to answer any other questions.

So far the only disappointment is that the grate/grill across the bottom is WHITE. WHY?! What other stainless appliance comes with white trim?

We plan to build cabinetry around the set, but it's down the priority list a ways.

I suggest you go to your local Sears Outlet that sells scratch and dent items--many are just perfect and that's where I picked up a brand new perfect Monogram 48" side by side for about $3800.

We have 2 Elux all-fridges and 1 all-freezer. We purchased them in 2007, but moved in in 2008 and started using them. So, it's 6 1/2 yrs later, and we've had no service calls. 1 of the fridge's interior light has a will of its own, so doesn't always come on, and the readout occasionally tries to give me an error code. From what I could find online, that code is related to the evaporator fan motor... But it keeps working and the code goes away. It's done that for a few years now. I haven't had it checked. Meant to at first, but the fridge keeps working fine, so at this point, I'm figuring it's a false alarm. The other fridge and the freezer have had absolutely no problems. I know this is just one family's experience and opinion, and you're looking for more stats for a greater number of units, but I think they're a good bet. The only reason I might not buy them again is the way the drawers are attached to the shelves above so they're a pain to take out and get clean. Maybe they've changed that by now.

I think that's the advantage of having the two appliances... Placing them where you need and can fit them. I have 2 all-fridges and 1 all-freezer for our large family. One fridge is nearer the eating area and the freezer and other fridge are near the pantry and a shorter walk from the cooking area. I don't think it's a problem that it might look like you have 2 fridges, since they are necessary kitchen appliances... You can explain that one is the freezer if someone is so curious. ;-) In your case, I worry more about the fridge conflicting with the dishwasher and whomever is working at the sink. Unsolicited opinion: I'd prefer a prep sink on the island with plenty of prep work area, and the cleanup area off to the side.

If they're panelled, or if even one is, there's no reason at all not to have two kinds of fridges. You've been talking high end. There will often be several kinds of refrigeration in a high end kitchen. I have Marvel drawers in my prep area besides the Miele all fridge and all freezer. All panelled. The only way to know that the drawers aren't cabinet drawers is that the handles are longer--which I did on purpose so that people might know! It would be a little funky to have a big stainless high end fridge with a big glory badge next to a Kenmore white plastic, but I bet it could be made to work. It's better, of course, if they have similar fronts. If you're doing two different types, it's better if they're not adjacent. Maybe have a pantry cabinet between, or a coffee/MW/snack bar. As to the Miele drawer temperature controls, I just tried on mine (older), and was able to push all the buttons, but I don't know what the control module does with that. I'm not even sure how it handles two, but I think it averages. I don't have the drawer divider (30" or because it's older, I don't know which), and have always set the upper drawer to both fruit and veg. I keep berries, tomatoes, apples, herbs, peppers, scallions, etc. in there together and they all seem to do well. For space, and because they do as well or better on the shelves, I put bags and boxes of greens in the middle, often on top of the tall bottles. Roots and things I'm about to prep go in the drawer fridge. Recently, I had to move the roots for awhile and some of them have been hanging out in the fruit/veg drawer and seem quite happy there. If you want to know more about the temperature combinations, you could call the Miele technical help 800 number. You should be able to look up the number online, or look up the manual and you'll see it on the back cover, I think. Those guys really seem to know the product's innards. Perhaps to get the exact dimensions you want, the two fridge/freezers would make sense, but remember, at least with the high end units, that means you're actually buying four units in two boxes.

No coating, just white plastic. Guess they expect everyone to buy their trim kits and cover them up? Maybe we'll have to figure out something to replace them.

I have the Frigidaire Twins. I have used them for over a year now. I was worried about them at first as they seemed noisy. But they are built in now and they are great,we had a pullout pantry and bookshelf storage built around them. They are CHEAP too. Look good and keep the food very well. Hope this helps. Caroline

Oruboris, I thought of that, and am completely open to that idea, but do you know of a specific product that will stick? Peely paint with the white showing through would be worse than all white... Thanks.

The bumper of our car is being replaced (courtesy of the insurance co of the pizza delivery guy who rammed into the back of us) and I talked to the autobody shop just after reading these posts this morning. They think they might be able to help me with painting the grills.

Has anyone installed with the dual unit trim kit? Or seen it in a store/showroom -- all of the Electrolux sources I've seen in NYC or Florida only have the SxS on display.

I've seen it in the store and at a homeshow...Looks fantastic. We planned to use the trim kits, but trimmed the budget instead!

We ordered ours with the trim kit but they will not be installed for about another 6 weeks so I do not have any pictures. The showroom has it set up with the trim kit and it looks amazing. I will post pictures once they are installed.

I just discovered that the Electrolux AF/AFs also can be ordered with panels on the front. I had no idea, and what a big $$ saver vs going with a 36" Built-in of another brand. Worth checking out if you have the room for AF/AF, and crave a paneled look.

Today I got quotes on the 36" Freezer and 36" Refrigerator built-ins from the GE Monogram line and they are almost $8000. The Viking set is $10,000 in 30" each. One thing I love about the GE is the height but I was hoping that the price would be lower.

Using the Frigidaire twins is a definite possibility for me, especially built on a pedestal as above. That is beautiful.

Kenmore and Electrolux both now provide the trim kit with the riser built-in to raise the height of these twins.

artieange shop around and ask the dealer where you are buying your appliances if he has floor models or S&D's. Our GE Mono fridge was a floor model at $2450 and the freezer was a S&D for $2650 (which didn't matter as we tossed the panels it came with anyway). It was a much better deal than the SZ and we are very happy with them. We would NOT have spent $8000 on them! No way!! No how!! In fact we were planning on the Electrolux when these practically fell into our laps.

We have the fridge and freezer installed in separate locations. The freezer is around the corner from the fridge in the butler's pantry. The door on that hinges the wrong way but for a $2000 savings we'll live with it.

Please excuse the mess. We've since painted the backsplashes cream while we save for the backsplash tile and the floating bar has also since been installed.
