Wolf 30'' AG Price?

DW and I are going to look at a Wolf 30"AG range next week. Could someone give me a ballpark estimate of what the price is going to be? I know that Wolf controls the price and I don't have a problem with that. I know that problems with the '07 AG ranges have been reported here and that's one thing I'll be discussing with the dealer - they sell a LOT of Wolf ranges. I'd just like to prepare DW for the sticker shock before we get there.

(For folks who have been following our misadventures, this range is for a third living unit on our property. We are still using and enjoying the Lacanche in the main house and still thinking about a 24" Bluestar for the guest house. The future occupant of the third unit wants a Wolf and we'll try to make that happen if possible.)

I can not remember the exact quote but it was between $4,100 and $4,400. If I find the paper I will repost. I must say you are an accomadating landlord!!!

Ordered/Pd late Dec 06 - the range was the "new" door AG 07 model. $3888.08. I'm sure it went up a little since then. (by the way, ours was a buy back to wolf)

I have the 36" AG. I had no desire for a grill or griddle. I love having the extra room on my cooktop but, honestly, I've never used 6 burners at once and I cook quite a bit. I paired my range with a single electric 30" convection wall oven. I find myself using the wall oven almost exclusively (except for holidays, broiling, and roasting) as the 36" range's cavernous oven takes a good 40 minutes to preheat and you have to plan ahead (I believe this is true with all 36" range ovens). That would be my only negative comment on the 36" range as opposed to the 30". If I had to do it again, I might have gotten the 30" range; I think I would have used my gas oven more often if the preheat was faster. If I was only doing a range with no wall oven, I would have ordered the 48" as I think I would use the smaller oven a lot.

I don't have them. They cover 2 burners, so would be heavy to deal with. I take off my grates to wipe out the pans underneath all the time, so I don't think I'd want that much weight to swing around and it'd be more of a challenge to find a place to set them out of the way. Also, a salesman told me that they take longer to heat up and cool down, because they're heavier, and they also cover the flame more, so less direct flame gets to your pans...Can't be sure of the accuracy of his statements, but looking at the grates, it seemed to make sense. If all of that wasn't enough, they cost extra, so I stuck with the standard grates.

First, a warning -- I have never lived in a house that needed make-up air. Not even close. Double-pane glass makes little sense for us since all the heat goes around the sashes in our Victorian. My experience with MUA is related to commercial systems. What follows is an opinion about the kinds of things that would make me consider MUA. Unless you have a Code requirement for make-up air, you have a fireplace you use when cooking (I seem to remember that you are South Bay?), have a "naturally" vented gas appliance in "connected space" (no always-closed doors between the hood and the appliance), or have a "tight" house (recent, energy-efficient construction, most likely), I would skip MUA. Even if you do need MUA, the difference in the maximum hood flow probably wouldn't significantly influence the the cost of the MUA system, which I would think was primarily labor driven. If not significantly more expensive, and you can run at least an 8" duct (preferably a 10"), I'd go with 900 CFM for two reasons: * You have it when you need it -- guests over, and the kitchen fills with smoke... * A 900 CFM blower at 600 CFM may be noticeably quieter than a 600 CFM blower at 600 CFM The 24" will serve you well. I stopped in at the appliance store where I bought my Bluestar the other day in Guelph (AMG Appliances) and he's got a 30" Wolf AG for $3999 right now. Regularly $6K and change. It appears that since Wolf has stopped producing the "open" burner model of the past, whatever's left has to move. It's a great deal and I would assume that other retailers are in the same position. If you've ever wanted an open burner Wolf, now's the time to get one. Amazing price.

Just last week I ordered a (brand new) Wolf model R304 AG Range. The price with the 5" stainless steel riser was $3888, same as plumorchard's price. Evidently, Wolf is having some kind of price reduction this year, in an attempt to build their customer base, or so the Wolf dealer told us.

velodoug, in view of the unresolved problems so many posters have had with their wolf AG ranges are you still willing to risk the purchase? I gave up on a Wolf though it is the only range I have seen that I really loved.

eandhl - Yes I would be willing to risk the purchase if the local dealer, with whom I have always had good luck, still thought it was a good bet. We'll see what he says.

velodoug, thanks I am anxious to hear what someone you trust says. Of course the two closest places to me denied that Wolf has ever had a problem. If you do talk to them in the near future please let me know as we are getting closer to ordering. After giving up on the Wolf I had decided on the DCS. But without doubt I still love the Wolf.

Of course they'll deny the problems. And it may be that they actually don't know about them because I never got the sense that Wolf was willing to own the situation, let alone tell their dealers about it.

I wish you luck and hope you get one that does what it's supposed to because if you don't, it's going to cost you days and days of wasted time and frustration on top of the sticker price.

Having cooked extensively on both, I'd humbly yet enthusiastically recommend the Bluestar in a heartbeat.

Keitel, I appreciate and value your oppinion on a range but a Bluestar is not avail in our area. We live way out and service becomes an issue. Within 50 miles only Viking, Wolf, Thermador, AGA, Capitol and DCS are available. Even then the one certified DCS dealer said they would not service here and that is my second choice. The one dealer that has in house service only has Viking and Wolf.
