There may not be a one size fits all regimen, but there IS a one size fits 99.9% regimen which has proven to bear fruit for a LOT of growers. I probably have about 300 plants covering at least 200 species and I don't know how many genera - maybe 125 to150. All those plants are treated exactly the same, except for allowances that a little more than half of them snooze the winter away, dormant, in a cold garage where they need no care other than the snow I toss on top of them occasionally through the winter so roots don't dry out. The houseplants and succulents grow under the same lights, get watered ON A SCHEDULE at the same time, get fertilized with the same fertilizer, and manage to remain in excellent health, year after year. It's true that when all you have is natural light, plants will need to be sited in consideration of their light preferences, and temperatures are a consideration, but the portion of the cultural conditions that are provided by the grower that are most apt to spawn trouble will relate to a triangle formed by soil choice, watering habits, and proper nutrition. These three factors are so intimately related that it's difficult to discuss one without including the others unless you're growing in a soil that allows you to water correctly. The idea that different plants require different treatment (other than light and temps) comes largely from the fact that some plants are better able to tolerate adversity. 'Tolerate' somehow translated to 'appreciate', and soon people were believing some plants LIKED soils wetter than other plants. Most of the plants you'll grow perform best when their soils are barely damp - not wet, and never soggy. If you're interested, read the link I left below. I had a few extra inches planned between my refrigerator and framed entranceway so that the refrigerator door could open fully. A panel was supposed to cover it. I never would have been able to do something really useful with the few inches as I didn't need a pull-out that big right next to my doorway. After the sheetrock was put up, we discovered a few more inches! I remembered that someone on this forum had a cabinet mounted sideways next to the refrigerator so that it opened out. I kind of used that idea but the cabinet opening is on the other side of the doorway. So now I've got a recessed custom built-in cabinet in my tiny mudroom. The cabinet depth is the door frame and "kitchen filler space". The filler space is covered by a small panel and I think of it as my reclaimed/found space! jayne

Dee, I agree with you about the CNA’s. They are the ones who have the most direct contact with the patients - bathing, bed changes , diaper changes, feeding, etc. My mom was extremely sick during the last three months of her life and I spent a lot of time in her room at the wonderful skilled nursing home and was so impressed with the care she was given by the CNA’s. They are low paid and appreciated the gift cards. I knew they were struggling with their own family shopping so I gave Amazon gift cards and Walmart cards because I knew that was where they did the bulk of their Christmas shopping. This is not about gifts, but I always had to stay with her when she was in the hospital as she was deaf and could not use the call button. I never called for help if it was something I could do for her. One time she was hospitalized and I was sitting in her room on a Sunday morning, reading the paper. A nurse or aid (don’t remember exactly) came in to give her her bath and asked me to leave the room, almost with an attitude. She was shocked when I told her I would be happy to give her bath since I was not doing anything useful. I had to keep reassuring her that I did not mind doing this and I know she was grateful as they seemed to be short staffed that morning.

Sue, as the spouse of one with sleep apnea and the mother of a son who had his tonsils removed due to sleep issues, I can tell your son the risk of complications from not having his tonsils out greatly outweigh the risk of having a major complication, much less death, from a tonsillectomy. It was hard to see my son wheeled away, even though I knew this was "Minor" surgery. I had similar fears about going under a general to have my meniscus repaired and wanted to do anything to avoid going under. Worrying and avoiding were worse than the surgery. Your son needs to remind himself that his doctor has probably done thousands if not tens of thousands of these procedures. They are competent and skilled, and your DS is going to sleep and feel so much better after this is done. And he will have the expectation of a longer, healthier life with a greatly reduced risk of heart attack, stroke, diabetes, obesity and possibly even Alzheimer's. I'd get my tonsils out (or my meniscus repaired) twice to avoid all those issues! Getting hm a big Lego set, puzzles or quiet games could be good for Christmas. He is going to need some quiet time
