Laying floor tile ... Which direction?

I'm debating on how to lay our bathroom floor tile. I'm still debating on 12x12 or 16x16 tile. Our bath is only 5x8 with the floor space only being 5x5. Any suggestions or pictures of how your bathroom floor tile looks. I'm not sure if it the way the tile is placed will help make the bath look bigger.

A stacked pattern can accentuate the linear qualities of the room. Stacked tile can draw the eye from wall-to-wall, A diagonal pattern can open things up a bit. Diagonal can fool the eye into thinking a narrow room is less narrow, for example, by drawing the eye from corner-to-corner, which is a longer distance than wall-to-wall.

Best bet would be to draw a floor plan, make a few copies of it, then sketch in your proposed tile patterns.

Mongoct - thanks this link was helpful. I prefer the diagonal myself and will decide on either. 12x12 or 13x13. In the shower we are going stacked. I hope this will all look good together.

Personally, I can't see this type of kitchen looking right unless the pattern ran lengthwise. I doubt the beauty of the flooring would show otherwise.

Looks to me like the house is on a slab anyway. I agree w/ everyone else & would run the flooring parallel to the door/ bed. Reason being is because the bed is taking up a lot of space & running the flooring parallel to it might make the room seem a bit 'longer' (yes, I know it is a square room.)

It's really up to your personal preference, but generally flooring is laid with the lines parallel to the longest wall, not really with concern to where the light source is. You want to give the feeling of more space in a room, and long lines give the appearance of extending the space, so put the lines parallel with the longest run you possibly can. The other concern is that you don't really want lines going different directions throughout the house, so if the flooring outside these rooms is already set, you'd ideally want to match that.

IMO rethink the tile it is already a dated look and IMO never was a good choice. As for how to lay it them same as you would do a real wood floor so the long way not across and real wood is often done in a different direction when it turs a corner to go into another space.
