Straight hair..hot rollers?
Comments (19)Ponder I am curious about what you said The rule of thumb for curlers. If you go around the hair more than 11/2 times it will reverse direction and do it's own thing when you let it out. Do you mean not to turn the curling iron more then 1 and half times?? I think thats what you are saying but I've never had that trouble controling it. If I want to curl your hair under I face the clip one way and if I want to curl it out it faces the other way. I'm not trying to be rude in anyway, I hope you don't take it that way! Just curious. I usually use big hot rollers for body and then let it cool and then finish up with a curling iron to help it go in the direction I want it. Then after that round cools I go to it with my round brush. I find this way last a lot longer then blowing it out with the round brush. Atleast for my hair! I love my ceramic curling iron! It heats up so fast and so even!...See Morefrizz free curls - impossible? caruso hairsetters, irons, rollers?
Comments (9)The only time I have frizz problems is when I use the tiny rollers because the curl is too tight. My hair is shoulder length and very straight so I usually use the medium and large rollers and make spiral curls. I absolutely love my Caruso. As far as holding up, mine have held up great. I bought my first on in like 1989. I was only 18 and didn't have a credit card so my mom ordered it for me off of TV. I still have it and it still works. I bought 2 more at Target a few years later (smaller travel sized ones) because they were on clearance for $5 and those still work great too. I would say that it takes me about 5 minutes to roll my hair and another one minute to take out the rollers and style it. I usually dry my hair first and put the rollers in, then let them cool/dry while I do my makeup. The only thing you have to be careful of is to not get the rollers too steamy because the steam won't evaporate as fast and will leave your hair wet. If I'm in a hurry, I roll then hit the rollers with my hair dryer to hurry up the process a bit. After I got my first Caruso my friend was so amazed that she made me try them on her hair. We used the large size on her hair and were amazed at the results. She has thick hair that is all one length and down to her waist and when I took the rollers out she had spiral curls that were shiny, springy, and curled her hair all the way up to her middle back. It was gorgeous. One other word of wisdom: when the rollers are in place, your head is HUGE, so don't try to get dressed or anything (unless you have zippers or buttons down the front) while they're on your head....See MorePet Hair and Laundry
Comments (3)I think it may vary according to washing machine. I have Asko and Miele Fls (smaller Euro-style models with very high spin speeds. I also have 10 cats and two bunnies. Collectively they have nearly a dozen and half pet beds and sleeping pads in use at any one time. And I launder more than 3 dozen towels for the pets every week as I change the towels covering the pet beds and the other "unauthorized" sleeping places about every 10 days. I don't find that hair seems to get stuck in the drain path of the washers (I've had my machines completely apart on occasion for other reasons). It does clog the dryer lint filters, though, even just during the few minutes I use it before hanging them out to air dry. However your machines may be different. I just try to remember to make the next load after pet beds something other than my best sweaters or silk blouses. Not that there's any hair noticeable carry over, but it seems better to wash farm overalls or household cleaning clothes in the next load! L...See MoreFor MCM fans...
Comments (14)Somewhere around my house I still have one of those metal 'marcel' clips my mother used to use. Like technicolor mentioned, my mother used to wrap my hair in scrap fabric in mostly failed attempts to make those sausage curls in my stick-straight hair, somewhere in the mid 50s. I also remember those pink plastic and metal skinny rollers olychick posted. In the 60s we used to use stale beer to set our hair with those mesh rollers, using roller papers and clips. I had one of those bonnet hair dryers which came with a shoulder strap; however, because you still needed to be plugged into an electrical outlet, you could move only so far. Despite all the rollings and setting lotions my hair never held a curl or wave for longer than half an hour. I finally got a hand-held hair blower in the mid-70s and have never looked back. Thank goodness they've gotten much lighter and easier to handle over the years....See Moremitchdesj
