blue star 36' range hood - minimum coverage?

I just did a search on blue star ventilation on this forum...it appears that with such high BTU's, a powerful hood is important but even more important is coverage. Therefore, for a 36" blue star range, the hood should be wider than 36" and deeper than 24", correct? The problem is we only have space for a 36" w hood. (I hadn't been considering the blue star when we designed the kitchen.) Given the dimensions I have to work with, would you abandon the idea of the blue star and go with a wolf or thermador (or something else where none of the burners are more than 15,000?) Or can I compensate for the size of the hood with more cfm?
