Has anyone every had one, and if so, is it painful, does it work and what is the average cost.

I never had a salon peel but I did a lot of research about them. There are different levels of peeling, but most of the ones done are superficial, top layer peels. The deepest ones are a serious thing and require medical tests prior because of their toxicity. I am assuming you're talking about the more common type.

They have nice results in giving people smoother, softer skin, but they have to be repeated often to maintain the effect and can become expensive. I do know one person who experienced problems with blotchiness after her peel had healed. This can happen with darker complexioned people and she is Italian. I also know a person who had one salon peel, but never followed up with skin rejuvenation products and it didn't really do anything for her by itself.

You can get the same results by using a good alpha hydroxy face cream regularly, it just takes a little longer initially. You can jump start the process by using an over the counter home peel first. That's what I did and then I went to the alpha hydroxy cream and a copper peptide cream for building collagen.

My favorite alpha hydroxy is the MD Forte products. You start with a weaker solution and progress to level III. They are prescription grade, but some dermatologists sell them on the internet without a prescription from your doctor. The MD Formulations is a weaker non-prescription version they also make. Most alpha hydroxy sold in at cosmetic counters are pretty weak.

I would never bother getting a salon peel because I like the lasting results of having a program I do at home everyday. Your skin is still being exfoliated rapidly, but most of it is at a level you can't see, so you don't have to deal with the appearance of chunks of skin peeling off. I did get a little visible peeling with the MD Forte at first, but your skin gets used to it. It wasn't really noticeable to other people either.

Do a search for "skin rejuvenation" and read the articles you find. Try to see through the sales pitches you encounter and look for the informative ones.

I'll have to experiment with pictures, lol..... to see if I dare post them. My eyeliner is a thin line of smoky charcoal. I found the process for the brows painful , it's a piercing needle, and the 5 days of healing difficult to deal with , scabs and such; the brown color develops later so having bacitricin on your very black brows for 5 days is not easy to camouflage. ( washing hair or showering with underwater goggles is a hoot; you can't drench the newly done work for a week until it's really set in ) I don't think it looks natural, I barely have a little fuzz on my brows, but it looks a hell of a lot better than it did when I penciled it in; it looks "made up" but I'm fine with that. Someone with a certain quality/quantity of brow hair could have them filled in with the permanent makeup and it would look more natural, I think. My technician does touchups a month later after the initial appt, the process is less but still there is healing time and the greasing up of the area. The eyeliner was nothing really, being such a small surface, my eyes barely puffed up. So I would suggest researching the methods, I found it quite the process to go through but am so happy it's done now.

I'm sure you can get fairly good retinol products at the drugstore these days, some better than others. However, I get mine via prescription, and the cost is covered via insurance. Yes, I have to be pre-approved every year, which takes a couple of days, but it's worth it in the long run since I pay maybe a couple of dollars for the name brand stuff. Tried the generic but didn't like it. Too greasy. It would likely depend on your insurance and what it covers whether you'd want to try that route with a dermatologist. There are varying strengths (.025, .05, etc) so most first-time users start with the lowest strength. If your skin is truly that sensitive, I'd probably go easy with the Clarisonic, and also take the advice of your skin care specialist first before investing in one. A lot of people assume they really need to scrub with it using pressure. Not true. It is a gentle rotating motion with the device doing the work. And maybe use it every few days to start, not every day. If the redness from the broken capillaries bothers you, why don't you consider having that addressed first and using it as an entry point to the skin care with your dermatologist for other advice? Most would probably give you a free or reduced-rate consult and demo of their products. And the good ones have samples they are more than happy to give you.

Gotta be careful with heat guns. I have one, and if the application I'm heating is attached to the house I use it on the low setting. Many a house has been burned down with a heat gun. There is the real potential it will blow a smoldering ember into a recessed area that eventually catches fire. I was talking about the quartz bulb infrared paint remover. Doesn't blow any potentially fire starting debris into nooks and crannies. I figured it might be an old apartment building. But I've seen old houses with that many layers of paint too. And always wondered when there was already too much paint on there, why even more was applied. It's not like it looks any better... Peel Away will get really expensive really fast. But, I cannot imagine heat stripping that much paint off of that much wood work. You'll need an assortment of different size scrapers and and arsenal of fresh blades. Because the first four layers of lead paint, the eight layers of non lead oil paint, and the 12 layers of latex paint will dull those blades fast. Before committing to peel away, try Citri Strip. It's a lot less expensive, and you can get it at Home Depot. From my experience it works pretty well.

The injections such as Juvederm and Botox are done with very fine needles. I'm talking extremely fine. Usually they will administer numbing cream to the area, especially for first-timers. I can take or leave it now that I know what to expect, but I will say that some areas, such as near the corners of the eyes or mouth, are more sensitive than others. And I can tolerate any mild pain well. The needle prick feels like a short, mild prick. I don't think it's bad at all. As to any recovery, there really is none, except usually there should be no physical exercise the remainder of the day of treatment. I ice the area, but sometimes some bruising does occur, so be prepared for that and using concealer for several days. This mostly happens for me with areas around my mouth with Juvederm, not with Botox around my eyes. I had some bad marionette lines too, especially on one side, and have had wonderful results with Juvederm (it's the most current form of it). For me it lasted almost 2 years the first time before I needed a refresh. It's been about 18 months since the refresh and I'm just now talking about when to have the next one. YMMV. I get the Botox about twice a year around my eyes and the 'elevens' in my forehead(those wrinkles caused from squinting). Hope this helps.
