Very interesting post, I didn't know it. Really, it is very similar to Zespri Gold, a little bit smaller. It is very encouraging that in a very small scale breading (like yours) the fruit obtained is so good. My problem is my overcrowded garden, I have 3 Hayward females and 1 Tomuri male, I have place for 1 female and 1 male, no more. If I grow the seedling plants as you say I will can find any place to grow 3'-4' apart, two per hole but, what will happen when they get branches of several meters? it can become an small jungle! ;-) I prefer to try the plant selection with grafting and keep the mother plants in a moderate size until I will be sure what are the best. As I said in my previous post, maybe it will be an ingenious idea but I want to try it. Regards.

Here's the marking on the bottom. I found one online that says it's from the K'ang Hsi Ching dynasty... the markings on mine are the same as the one online... but since I don't know if the person online knows what they're talking about, I'm not putting too much stock into it.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, the vet did give me antibiotics, which just ran out a day or so ago, and a small bottle of eardrops, which I assumed were for the infection. But the drops ran out about a week after the surgery, so I concluded that must be the end of the treatment. There was also a larger bottle of drops which I was supposed to use to clean her ear before giving her the other ones. But those in the larger bottle were only supposed to be applied once weekly after the treatment was over. Perhaps I should go back to giving them to her every day again. But they apparently hurt her, because she winced every time I put them in, so it was hard on both of us. I have read on line that hematomas often dry up on their own, but leave the ear a little deformed afterwards. I think her ear is never going to be the same anyway, though, since it's been drooping ever since her surgery. From the way the vet described the surgery to me, I thought it was supposed to keep the hematoma from recurring. But I'm beginning to have doubts about that!

I've had him about 3 years, it's a Lambert Hybrid Musk 1932. Seems to be a slow grower but healthy. I can find very little info about it on HMF & not much more from the Vintage Gardens catalogue. Per HMF it can climb & Vintage has it topping out at 4' or less. Any help would be appreciated. Jane
