Lets talk threading

I am having my eyebrows threaded the first time on Thursday. I have always done waxing but hate the look I get. Please tell me from other threaders how you like it and how long does it last?

Ctstar, I first saw your post yesterday, but as I had no idea what threading was, I did not post. But I was intrigued and HAD to know what you were talking about. So I googled. Fascinating! Please let me know how the experience was for you.

I have my eyebrows threaded regularly; I love this way of maintaining unruly brows. The first time I had it done, I had some slight irritation, i.e. scant bleeding, but don't freak out over that statement, it was not a big deal. Since then, that hasn't happened. I get compliments on my brow shape now that I'm having them threaded. I have never been able to pluck them so that they both look the same, and wax is messy, so this is a great solution for me. I highly recommend it. Friends say they hear it's painful; I wouldn't call it painful, I'd call it slightly uncomfortable. As with any procedure, it all depends on the skill of the threader, there are 3 ladies in the kiosk at the mall I go to, and I have my favorite of the 3. I go about every 8 weeks. Probably should go about every 6.

Q: What types and weights of threads do you like to use? A: All of them! For machine quilting I've used everything except metallics: 100% cotton, 100% silk, cotton/poly blends, rayon, nylon. For piecing I usually stick to 100% cotton. Q: Do you tend to sew all quilts with one color (like a light gray) or do you coordinate thread with the quilt color? A: For piecing, I usually use a medium neutral color. For machine quilting it depends on the quilt. I've done tops with one color and tops where I've changed colors literally dozens of times. I think the most elaborate project in terms of changing colors was over 3 dozen different colors. Q: Do you use 'regular' thread for quilting or specialty threads? A: Yes. See answer to the first question. 8^) I usually choose thread by color, so whatever gives me the color I need is the thread I'll use. Q: Do you pay attention and change needle size if you are using a heavier thread? A: Yes. That's a necessity if you want to avoid problems. I don't usually bother with "quilting" needles, I've found that a size 14 needle will usually handle any thread I throw at it.

Mich, I've seen that in the stores and wondered about it. Some detergents don't have enzymes, I stear clear most of the time, however not every load is tragic, so not every load needs enzymes. If there's not a bunch of stains and the clothes just have the normal dust and body oils, that bottle of All probably does a nice job on darks and colors. I'm a powder fan but lately I've been enjoying some liquids, lol. Actually I have found liquids without enzymes make my sheets feel very smooth, I've been using a new boutique one I've run across, I'm not sure yet though if its the lack of enzymes or because its a liquid, but they do feel better I'll send a pic of it in a sec.

Lyban, I am not surprised you’re confused because I’ve been talking about multiple weddings! The earrings from an earlier post were for this dress, my MOG dress for early spring. No necklace, because there is a small ”diamond” bedazzlement already on the dress. THIS navy dress is what I am wearing to a wedding in Sept. And I ordered and received these navy shoes, and I like them so I’m wearing them. And I already have the exact shoes in silver to wear with the fuschia dress next spring. They are very comfortable. I like the navy dress so much, I may wear it for the rehearsal dinner for DS’ wedding. The lace pattern is all heart shapes, which verges a bit on maybe-too-cutesy but it’s fairly subtle.

Painful.. extremely painful. I had it done twice.... and I am done! The last time the woman made a mistake... it was so painful, I didn't want her to fix it. I'm sorry this is my experience.. I rather have my eyebrows waxed.

HOWEVER, my sister LOVES threaded eyebrows. She gets it done about once every 4-6 weeks. She swears by it.
