I have opposite problem - desert dry skin. BUT, I think first you have to get oil under control. Since you are in US (I am in Toronto) you might want to look at Erno Laszlo products for oily skin - first the cleansers etc. and then the Normalizer "Shake-It". When line was sold in Toronto (one story only so you got to see same people in line) I saw many an oily skinned person - male and female - from teens through middle age buying a lot of these products. The most important thing to do though is to visit a reliable counter and get appropriate "clocked" to determine best products for you - and start with the basics. If you can get your skin oil under control, then it will be easier to find a foundation. Another cleanser that is apparently very good for oily skin - whether you ar 16 or 60 is made by Orlane - it comes in a mint green tube - the President of the Cdn. distributor uses this and she is older than I am and I am 55. I bought a tube as a gift for a young acquaintance and it worked marvellously for her. I caution you against the accompanying toner though as it is harsh for people of a "certain age". I used Orlane for over 20 years before switching to the products (fast diminishing I might ad) for dry skin from Laszlo. Orlane started to reformulate my products with acids and the word "extreme" and my skin is very thin and I have rosacea so acids are not an option. My foundation is very oil based and I can put on 4 layers and it sinks in - so all in all I don't look nearly as dry. I understand your frustration and am sorry to say over the next few years things could get a bit worse due to further hormonal changes. I am very worried about this as I am allergic to most botanicals, algae products, Vitamin C, acids - heck just about everything. Hope you find something that works. The Laszlo products are not cheap, but not nearly as expensive as the Luxury brands and if you keep to the basics - I have simply because I can't use the "new fangled" stuff, you will save a lot of money. I've tried everything out there and the ONLY thing that works for me (oily skin, contacts, tightlining) is Jordana felt tip eyeliner and it's $1.99 at walgreens. seriously, i was so happy to discover it and yet so mad that i've wasted so much money looking over the years (drugstore and high end ) and i have a whole drawer of old eyeliners that i'm now using for arts and crafts lol. also, my HG mascara is the loreal telescopic waterproof (in silver tube with blue writing). no smudging. of course to get all these no smudging products off is the neutrogena makeup remover (the one you have to shake before using), the generic brand of this works too.

My skin tends to get a bit oily, so the products I use wouldn't be of much help. (Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse or L'oreal True Match) However - most companies make formulations for different skin types. L'oreal now has a line targeted for 40-something, 50-something, and 60-something. I was in the local drug store recently, and the cosmetics manager gave me some samples - of the 60-something moisturizer! I'm 41. Poor dear. She must have been all of 20 so to her, everyone looks older. I tried the moisturizer and it was a bit too heavy for me, so it might work very well for dryer skin. I know you're looking for foundation, and they also make a foundation for the same age-category. And a couple of people mentioned that the really expensive, department store cosmetics are a waste of money. I used to work for Estee Lauder, and know for a fact that many of their products were manufactured by exactly the same factories, using exactly the same ingredients (with the possible exception of some added fragrance) as the drug store brands. You're paying for the fancy glass bottles and extra packaging. (at least this was a number of years ago. I kind of think things are still pretty much the same) I work as an actress, and they really do use Max Factor drug-store makeup on film sets. After all, Max Factor invented makeup for use in the film industry, including the first waterproof mascara. The stuff just works! Good luck to you.

Thank you for the response. Tee hee, no really you look like you are in your thirties to me! Just kidding. But you know, I've been using canola oil on my face for several months now. I have been eagerly waiting for my favorite squirt bottle to get empty so that I can refill with olive oil, funny you should say that. Recently I did get a sample of Oil of Olay Regenerist night cream, so I've been using it. I think the fumes make my eyes burn. Anyway, the sample bottle is now empty, so I will stick with the olive oil. Do you use anything over the top of your Bare Minerals foundation? I'd like to try their Mineral Veil but I think it might have a drying effect.
