Thanks for the advice Alex. I think I'll give that a try in the spring. The trunk is 2 feet in diameter and overall it is quite far from dead. It was infested long before I moved in 2 years ago and I've only had to remove a couple branches from it in that time. The upper half of the tree appear to be quite healthy still. My plan was/is to anchor one end of a trellis directly onto the tree (there's a post that won't move) and plant the fruting female plant about 10 feet away to run along the trellis. The male non-fruting plant would be planted at the base of another side of the tree and left to run more or less wild up the tree. I don't have any experience with kiwi's, so I'm not sure if 1) the asthetic will be any good (aka wife factor) and 2) how well the tree and vine will interact. It's my understanding that eastern hemlocks have very shallow root systems, so not sure how well the kiwi would establish. I have rhubarb and a paw paw I planted about 8 feet away this year and both seem to be doing quite well. A foot away may be a different story though. I guess there's no harm in giving it a go and seeing if it works or not. Worst case, I just buy another male and fit it in somewhere.

What a wonderful question! I think you will be pleasantly surprised by my answer. LOL FIRST: Let's take a look at cellulose. Cellulose is the most abundant organic compound on earth. It is manufactured by plants and is what creates the cell walls of a plant. Cut open a stem of any plant and cellulose is what has made the stem walls. It is being looked at as an alternative fuel source from various plants. So, addition of the cellulose in the tablet would be a trace amount and would be used by the plant to create the cell walls anyway. So, can't say that would do any harm to the plant. SECOND: FD&C Yellow. It is a dye. A very trace amount of this dye is used to give Vitamin C tablets their color. Food coloring is non toxic to plants and will not affect the overall growth of the plant. Use too much food coloring and you can possibly alter the appearance of the plants. For example: a tinging of yellow in the leaves or flowers. But, I do not believe there is enough of a quantity of the yellow to do any harm in that manner anyway. You are dissolving a small amount of the vitamin into the water so it should be safe. THIRD: Magnesium Stearate is naturally manufactured in plants. That is why beans are a good source of magnesium. Magnesium is one of the trace minerals that a plant needs anyway for overall plant health. It is taken up in higher rates at a low pH of between 5 and 6. But at a normal rate of 7 it is taken up in a much lower amount. In fact, a deficiency of Mg in a plant can be seen almost immediately. Mg deficiency will cause an interveinal chlorosis (yellowing) in older leaves. Leaves can turn yellow or white and fall off the plant if Mg is deficient. So, this will also not harm the plant. FINALLY: Lactose is a complex sugar made up of glucose and galactose. Now, in its complex form it will not be taken up by the plant and given that it is mixed with the water, the overall content of the lactose would be so small that it would most likely be evaported from the soil. It is soluble in water at a level of 21.6g/100ml but with the small tablet size of the Vitamin C there would not be enough mass of lactose to be soluble enough to break it down into its simple sugar forms. And like I said though, there is such a minute amount of this in the tablet that it should have no overall effect on the plant. I hope this helps answer your question!

I've got the very same concerns. I hate the feel of powder & haven't had it on in probably 30 yrs or more. One of these days I'll get over to Sephora & see if they can try it out on me. My other concern is that it will add a lot more time to my morning routine.

I am so sore in my legs and Butt I can hardly get out of my chair! LOL I love these shoes. I have very, very sensitive feet and shoes and comfort have been an issue since I was a kid. I also walk 5 miles a day on my treadmill and some days do an extra hour on the rebounder so I am putting a lot of stress on my feet. They hurt most of the time. I have only had them for 2 days and they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever had (and that includes some very expensive shoes).Yesterday I did the thirty minute workout that comes on a DVD with the shoes and that is why I am so sore. LOTS of squats and lunges. Lots. That is why I am sore. I also walked 5 miles. Today, I walked 5 miles and then shopped for the remainder of the day (5 hours). The idea is that these shoes force you to walk heel to toe like you are walking in sand and also makes you walk with better posture. Do they tone your butt and thighs? I don't know that but I am already thinking of buying another pair so I have a workout pair and an everyday pair.
