Does anyone else have the itch?
Comments (44)Well, after living with in laws for 6 months while the house gets built, we finally moved into the new house 2 weeks ago, I promptly planted 4 taxodium hybrids as soon I get a chance. I have a nice grove of escarpment live oak in the corner of backyard. Never had that much shade so I'm a little excited about what to plant there. Perhaps a couple of JMs with nice red fall color from my brother that he grew from seeds. That's in Houston where he lives so I'm curious to see how they do in bit colder weather over here. There are deer around here but they don't seem to wander close to houses judging on plants on older houses. I guess they are too scared of us unlike at in laws where they come like dogs wanting treats. I've had a couple of big nice looking bucks come right up to me and start eating deer corns out of the bucket! I'm going to miss that. Just so cool......See MoreBare Minerals makeup
Comments (131)I tried Bare Minerals because I have rosacea and cannot use most makeups with a flare up. I works really well, does not irritate my skin, and looks great. It even does a really good job of evening out my skin (I feel like Rudolph sometimes!). However, I could not stand the mess it made on my sink any more. So I decided to try purminerals pressed mineral makeup. I am very happy with it. It is pressed not loose so it does not fly all over when I am applying it. It is also a bit more matte than Bare minerals. Since my skin is very oily, I appreciate a little less sparkle. I have been using it about 6 weeks now, so far so good. If it was going to cause my rosacea to flair up, it would have happened by now. It also matches my skin tone better. With the Bare Minerals, I always felt like one color was a bit dark, but the lighter color was a bit too light. Could just be because I don't like to wear makeup. I prefer to look like I don't have any makeup on. Oh yes, I always wear moisturizer under this too, I think all of the mineral powders must be a bit dry, I also tried a fancier brand before, But the colors were nowhere close to my skin tone, I either looked anemic, or sunburned!...See MoreTraveling with Bare Minerals
Comments (6)Jars of minerals have "exploded" in my handbag, cosmetic bag AND suitcase--what a mess that was! But love the makeup and it IS great for traveling because there are no restrictions since it's not liquid, paste or gel. I just bought a case specifically for mineral makeup to use for everyday and for travel. Love it because my jars are always packed now and ready to go. Just pack my brush roll (I put wands, tubes & tweezers in empty pockets in the brush roll). They have lots of travel hints on the case's website. I agree with Debi except I removed the sifter lids and taped up all but one hole (with a bit blue painters tape) permanently. If some minerals are needed up into the sifter, turning the jar upside down shaking it does the trick. Using it right out of the sifter top instead of the lid helps because I was making messes all the time when I transferred the minerals to the lid and back for swirling and tapping. Donner's suggestion of inserting a cotton ball between the sifter and lid is also a good one but I'd rather just put a dot of blue tape on the one hole and not waste anything on the cotton ball. Now when I buy new colors I just poke one hole in the seal and leave it in place. Hope this helps. Here is a link that might be useful: The Mineral Case...See MoreBare Minerals - addons HELP
Comments (4)I use #1 foundation also and found the Warmth was WAY too dark for me. I used it as a bronzer when I had a tan for a few days. I still haven't figured out what to do with the Bisque. I bought it, thinking it was a concealer. But the foundation covers just as well, I think. I have to experiment more with that. And I do use a different brush for each powder. The only time I mix is when I use the blush. I just got the blush, and discovered that if I dip my brush in the Mineral Veil and then in the blush, it keeps the blush from going on too dark. The blush is very concentrated and you just need a tiny bit. Has anybody tried the Clear Radiance? Is it too shiny?...See Moreegillmann
