Bitter is usually too long of extraction so try reducing your extraction time. Can you adjust the grind & tamp pressure? Generally you want a grind+tamp that results in about 9-12 seconds from initial pressure to espresso first coming out and then 20-25 seconds of pour for a total extraction time of 30-35 seconds. These all vary by bean, roast and batch so if you cannot adjust them then finding a bean & roast that most often results in these might be your only option. Keep in mind that these Miele machines do not maintain the pressures and temperatures of regular espresso machines nor do they use a proper tamped puck so it's difficult/impossible to get a good shot from them. For a semi-automatic a Breville Oracle (regular or touch) is a better option.

I used to get a Sumatran coffee that I loved..switched roasters and didn't like theirs as much as I love their Brazil Dark Roast..so it's my "standard"... To make coffee jello you mix your coffee the way you useually mix your coffee and you take plain gelitaine and instead of water you use coffee when it calls for water.I drink my coffee black so I don't use cream but I guess you could try it.What do you have to lose?It is really good .Sometimes I top it with coolwhip.

I guess I don't see the reasoning for a double run. Suggests to me that your coffeemaker isn't working right. My percolator has NO problem getting the coffee hot enough! Even my le-cheap drip unit gets the brew plenty hot. I'm with you Jasdip. "Cans" of coffee are disappearing, although it's funny that even Keurig has realized that most people want more than one cup of coffee and are making a pot brewer! Sad part is so many have to have the caramel, vanilla, turnip and roadkill flavored "coffee". Never made sense to me, if people don't like the taste of coffee, why drink it? Trying to fit in I suppose. But these days people have to have sugar on/in everything. Meat, vegetables, beverages, medications, everything. And they wonder why they're overweight.
