Can you give the specific model number of your FD fridge?

I have Samsung's counter-depth FD model # RFG238AARS (delivered in early August 2010). It has a wide pantry door, labeled "WideOpen CoolSelect Pantry", on its front. I've had no problems with this pantry door, nor anything else with the fridge.

What I see when I look at my pantry door doesn't match well what you've described, so I wonder if we have different models -- there are several FD models -- which may have different mechanisms for otherwise similar looking pantry doors. Or, maybe I'm missing something...

Here's what I see: Two steel tracks, on either side, support the pantry door; they remind me of E'lux's "easy glide" oven racks. Like my oven racks, I can't see any wheels in or on these tracks; any wheels (ball bearings?) may be hidden. [A drawing of an extended pantry drawer on pg. 35 of my User Manual kind of shows one of these tracks, but isn't otherwise very helpful here.]

Under the pantry door, supporting its center, there is a white plastic thing with two wheels (like 3/4" long rolling pins, front and back); this rolls over the flat white floor below the pantry. Finally, two small (~1/2") white plastic wheels just above the pantry door on either side, roll over the side edges as the pantry door is pulled out; they lift up a little window that closes when the door is pushed closed.

If we have different models, its possible that comparable pantry doors are supported differently. If we have the same model, and I'm missing something, please be more specific about where I can see these wheels you see that I don't.

Chac, i have a totally different model, the RFG297 which is not the counter depth model like yours. However, mine has the same type of track that you describe, even the white plastic thing in the middle. I responded to this thread over on the kitchen board too, but agree that different models have different designs. someone over there took pictures of hers but the track is completely different than yours and mine. It would be helpful if the OP could give us her model number.

Sorry for the delay; I've been trying to get pics. I think my drawer is attached differently than what you describe. My model number is: RF 268 ABRS.

Something is just not right about this drawer and I can't get Samsung to listen to me.

Yes, your pantry door definitely looks different from mine, re: how it is supported.

Looking at what I assume is your RF268 user manual on Samsung's site (see link below), I see a drawing of the pantry door that looks like mine (shows oven-like track on the side), on page 30. That seems odd as well -- I wonder when your fridge was manufactured, and if there has been a change in design (away from what you have). Can you say when your fridge was made, or when it was purchased?

Seems like sending Samsung, or perhaps your service/repair company, the photos above might help. I'd ask if there's a way to adjust either the track or the wheels so they fit together better. You might also ask if there has been a design change from what you have, given that their user guide shows a different design for that pantry door.

Thanks for all your help on this. It was purchased in Sept. 2010 for new construction from Lowes, brand new, not a floor model. Manufactured July 2010. I'm not going to let this go. This is absurd. I have left Samsung a voicemail.

I see what you mean. I looked at them and it's just a strange effect in the photo. I was hoping you were right though.

I also have the Samsung French door refrigerator and have this problem with the wide drawer at the bottom of the fridge. It is not sliding in and out properly and seems to jam. I just got mine in August 2010. I am so glad that you posted this. I will call and lodge my complaint so that it is on record here in Canada too.

Yes, as mentioned above, there are (at least) two different designs for supporting the pantry door in Samsung's various FD fridge models.

For example, models RFG238AARS (counter depth) and RFG297 (standard depth) both use metal tracks (like in your picture); this design seems to be sturdy and reliable.

The OP's model -- RF268ABRS -- has a cheesy (perhaps cheaper?) design that may go out of alignment and cause problems.

If you're shopping for a Samsung French Door fridge, it would be smart to look specifically at how the wide pantry door is supported in the model(s) you're considering, because it matters...

If you're posting here about this problem (or the lack of this problem), it really helps to include the specific model number you have.

True. Mine is an RFG297ACRS

I the same issue with my refrig model RFG298HDRS. The drawer has metal tracks mounted on both sides. The metal is scraping the plastic tracks on the side of refrig. I don't know what causes the track to foul and stick but it sure is annoying for a frig less than one month old. I am ready to give it back to Lowe's. I don't want this issue for the life of the refrig. How do I file a complaint with Samsung?

Can you describe which of the two variants yours is, from the posts above in this thread? For example, does yours look like wear_your_baby's photo, or cruzmisl's linked photo (both above)? I can't tell from your description which style you have or what exactly the problem is.

But you may want to start with Lowes, since presumably they'll know who your local warranty / repair company is.

If they refuse (or can't) repair this, or don't even show up, that would be the time to complain...

I had this same problem on ours, different model but one of the drawers had same problem.
I simply took that track off put a 1/8" spacer behind it and problem solved.

Didn't have this problem until I took out drawer to clean under it. Can't get it all the way back in so flap will close.

Tellmey, hi! This probably won't be much consolation to you, but I've been researching FD refrigerators and I've noticed that's a fairly common complaint in customer feedback threads. Not just your make and model, but across the spectrum. If your refrigerator was purchased in 2010, then you're outside of the warranty period, even if you purchased the extended warranty, yes? Have you tried calling the manufacturer and/or the retailor to see what they might suggest? Or maybe someone will read this and have a suggestion. What is the type and model number of your refrigerator? :-)

the best fix for the draw coming off the track is remove the track and put a thin washer behind the rollers. I had Samsung try to repair it three times,finally they gave up. fixed it my self
