Cherry Bounce Recipe??

Has anyone ever made cherry bounce? I would like to make a batch now so I can test it in July. If it works out, I would love to make another big batch to give away as Christmas gifts. All I need is a good recipe! Let me know if anyone has made it and thought it was good!

Not t&t by me but these all sound good. Maybe depends on your liquor preference and also whether you prefer sour cherries or bings. Maybe try a small batch of each and do a taste comparison. I'd be willing to come over and help with taste testing part.

CHERRY BOUNCE

1 qt. cherries
1 qt. vodka
2 c. sugar

Combine ingredients and let stand for 3 months, stirring occasionally; crock works well. Drain cherries. Squeeze out excess juice. Bottle. Serve chilled with or without sweet or sour soda.

CHERRY BOUNCE

1 pt. sour cherries and stems
1 c. sugar
1/5 of bourbon

Sugar in bourbon, put in cherries. Let stand for 1 month.

CHERRY BOUNCE

4 c. bourbon
3-4 c. sugar
4 c. Bing cherries
4 months to ferment

Cover to ferment and set in a dark, cook place. Liquid is good to drink and cherries are good on ice cream.

CHERRY BOUNCE

1 qt. rum or cognac
1 lb. brown sugar

1. Take 6 pints of dark cherries. Grind cherries through a meat grinder, seeds and all.
2. Add 1 quart of dark rum or cognac. Reserve for 1 week.
3. Strain through a cheese cloth and add 1 pound brown sugar. Pour into wine bottle and cork.
4. Wait 2 weeks before serving.

True! Good point, Ken. It may cloud the bounce with more pulp exposed, but I would think it will still taste good and you can always strain it. I didn't pit mine at all when using fresh, so you may just want to leave the pits in until it's finished. Deanna

You don't say if this is for a dessert sauce or to be served with meat of some type. You may be able to take the sauce ingredients in this recipe, double or triple them and cook in a slow cooker. You also do not say if the sauce is too be served over/with a dessert or if you want to can or freeze the sauce. We need more information in order to help you. Joe you are E-V-I-L I may just have to make this for Hannukah (1) What kind of cocoa, dutch or regular? (2) I've never bought a can of cherry/apple/etc. pie filling. Do you think the Trader Joe's jar of morello cherries would sub? (3) Your instructions say to mix in the sour cream, do you mean mascarpone?

Mary, I think frozen cherries would work fine. My Aunt Ellen used to make Cherry Bounce every year, layers of cherries and sugar and enough vodka to cover, then it sat in the container until the holidays. The liquid was mixed with Squirt or 7-up and the cherries were served over pound cake or ice cream. My mother loved the stuff. I think you'll have trouble finding sour cherries fresh. Even here in Michigan the sour cherries are usually commercially frozen, as they are small and tedious to pick and pit. I tried to pick sweet cherries today and they are already gone, a couple of weeks early. Sour cherries are just starting to ripen but few orchards have "pick your own" sour cherries and the birds have already picked my trees clean before I could get a single cherry. Have fun! Annie
