Buy a bottle of Margarita mix....adds alt to the rim of the glass and a slice of lime.

I had wondered if just the plain margarita mix wouldn't just taste a lot like lime, that's why I hadn't tried it yet.

I used to bartend, but that was almost 30 years ago. (man, where has the time flown to). Trying to think of replacement tastes for the liquor hasn't been easy. I have a frozen margarita machine that my family got me for last mother's day that I haven't ever cranked up. I'm having an office party at my house and would love to come up with a good virgin recipe to use in the machine. Guess I have a lot of time to practice, it's not for a couple of months yet....

Experiment with some orgeat syrup. It can add a nuance that can mimick that 'boozy' taste. A touch of Rose's Lime Juice can add character. Don't use too much as you do not want it to taste like a gimlet.

Also use the zest of fruits, not the just citrus juice, for a more 'liquor' taste. For instance, some orange zest added can mimic the Triple Sec or Cointreau.

Adding the zest of both lemon and lime will take the tart mouth feel away from the non-alcoholic blended drinks and the volatile oils in the zest will mimic the alcohol that is missing.

Experiment with proportions of the ingredients.
