Some sources offered to me the possibility that the Viking trim kit would fit the essentially identical Jenn Air units but I didn't pursue it nor can I confirm it. Electrolux Icon CD shows an optional collar and louver kit in their specs but I haven't seen it displayed. If your main goal is to minimize protrusion, then any refrigerator could be made to appear more flush with either a recessed space behind to allow it to push back further, and/or extended side panels to camoflauge the exposed sides.Trimming out the top gap to fit tighter helps but air flow clearance should still be maintained per spec. Gasket and door still need to be exposed for doorswing clearance. I preferred the look of the Viking so I went with it. I'm hopeful that since it is really the ubiquitous Amana/Whirlpool/Jenn Air CD with a different skin and handle that I had a good chance of reliability and its ratings are of course similar to it's sibling units. It has performed very well.

This one is short enough it can be mounted under a cooktop - as long as the cooktop isnt more than x" deep.. it will be low to the floor though. I did think about putting it in a separate cabinet but the only spot for that is on the peninsula - and I really want those cabinets to be lower than counter height. well maybe it would work? I guess if there isnt a cooktop above it the cabinet could possibly be shorter? It could go next to the cooktop - under the south window - but thats where I will stand to prep, not sure if i want a hot oven and a handle in my gut all the time. This is the current layout that I sent to the cabinet people. It shows a small sink on the peninsula but Im not sure yet if that will happen or not. If i can get a bigger sink under the window, I wont need a second sink. I was looking at the sears website for some ideas.. and they have a couple dual fuel slide ins that might be nice. We'll see! I love the look of duel fuel but Ive never cooked on gas.. and it makes me nervous with small kids. Plus Im super a messy cook and I'd be scrubbing those burners all the time. Decisions decisions! Your decision of slide-in vs free-standing will impact the counter installation. Counter material will not impact selection of range style. I switched from a free-standing to a slide-in range a few years ago and the range came with a little strip to fill in the gap behind the range. If I'd installed new counters, I would have had the counter fill in that space instead. The way that my slide-in installs, it may also have been beneficial (though not required) to notch the counters slightly in order to snug the range closer to the back wall. So when you've selected your range, make certain you have all installation instructions available prior to installation of the counters. A 30" range should be just that: 30" wide. You can usually check out installation instructions and specifications online to make certain, but as long as you currently have a 30" range in the space, the wide should be perfect for any other 30" range. Personally, I like the look of no built in backsplash on the range. That was my primary reason to switching to a slide-in. However, I've since found several ranges that are free-standing and have no built in backsplash. So, make certain you look at all of your range options before you make your decision on slide-in vs free-standing.

Sorry I didn't read your first post carefully... now I see you are OK with dual evaporators as well. Those aren't too hard to find with freestanding fridges. Dual compressors, however, will be a rarity unless you step up to a built-in. Samsung has dual evaporators on a bunch of models other than the Chef collection you mentioned. GE has dual evaporators on all their 36" french door models, not just Monogram. I have had the new Profile since 2012 when they came out (although not counter depth) and it's been great.
