There's a promo-style video on youtube you can watch. I don't have any experience with this particular company, although my Monogram hood is Italian and is constructed with what appears to be an identical, italian squirrel cage blower on it.

It looks like the model you are looking at, the "Murnano Glow" weights 85 pounds, so it is probably of typical italian industrial design, beautiful, maybe a little shaggy around the edges (switches not lining up with their cutouts, perfectly, etc., although that might be ameliorated somewhat with the advent of robots cutting the holes as seen in the video.)

If you go to the furturo futoro website it appears that they have headquarters in Brooklyn. Perhaps you can call them to see if anyone down in Maryland stocks or displays them. A home show or something?

Anyway, I just want to say that I think that thing is beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. It so closely resembles the type of dining room lamp my wife wants to get that I am afraid to show it to her! I would buy one in a heartbeat and probably wouldn't care if smoke escaped around it on stir-fry night.

BTW, they make a 34" model also, just in case you think a 28 might be a little small.

I am also looking at a futuro wall hood - moon crystal or acqualina. I called the company and they only have the one showroom to see their product in Brooklyn. I live in Mass. and was hoping to see one on display locally. I looked at the stats re how loud they were and we might buy the hood site unseen based on pictures and stats. You can look on their site to see how much your hood would be plus shipping. For me, I can think I will order via AJ Madison since I am getting other appliances through them and the price was the same and no shipping. I deal with a good sales rep their. Having said that, it seems like a lot to spend on something sight unseen. I live in Baltimore and was thinking I might even take the train up to see it before I buy. But then the cost would be about the same as the restocking fee.

When are you getting yours? Would love your feedback since we are probably looking at this summer before we buy.

I bought a Futuro Futuro Mimosa in 2008 for my kitchen remodel. Purchased directly off their web site. Hood was back-ordered but arrived beautifully packaged. Lovely hood.

We tested it and all seemed well for the 20 seconds we ran it. Alas, being DIY, it was over a year before we were finally able to install the thing for real. The unit is clearly either not well designed or broken -- it emits a loud juddering sound, making it impossible to use. (We checked thoroughly for anything that might have fallen inside the mechanism, etc., although it had been packed up in the basement.)

My structural engineer father examined it and was displeased with the way the squirrel cage fan was attached to the back wall; said that loud vibrations are virtually guaranteed with such a construction. This may be an anomaly, it may be typical, I really cannot say.

Futuro warranties parts & service for only one year. I can say that for the past 5 months I have had no luck getting Futuro to respond to my requests for service and/or a replacement fan. I pretty much gave up and got an entirely different hood.

So that's my experience. In my particular case, the Futuro brand was an expensive $1200 mistake. Your mileage may vary considerably.

I have a Futuro range hood for over 2 years. At the time of installation, my contractor managed to scratch the chimney stack. We contacted the company, and we got a replacement without any problems whatsoever.
