Everyone's sensitivites vary. I've found Tide Free/Sensitive to be great, as have many family and friends who have sensitivities, psoriasis, exema and allergies. Others here have used All Free & Clear, Charlie's soap (but that's not HE, though it's HE compatible) Cheer Free and just about anything that is a perfume/dye free. Sears has one also and Sears detergents are pretty popular. Dreft now has HE versions out and many like Dreft too. You probably need to try several and see which clean as you need without problems.

Patann, I hope you have a humidifier of sorts in your home with the temps below freezing. That right away will help on so many levels. With that said, the amount of oils in a lotion plays a big part of it. Unfortunately, most formulas are proprietary with mentioning the AMOUNT of oil in the lotion/cream formulas. They only list ingredients in order of the most to the least. Try to look for something with the 2nd ingredient an oil of some sort followed by water. For my dry skin, I always use something that has 25% - 30% oil of some sort in the formulary. Glycerine is excellent on the skin as it draws moisture from the air and to your skin throughout the day. Dimethicone is added to formulas mostly for slip and to leave behind a silky feeling. It does very little in adding moisture to anything (and I feel should be avoided in hair products as it builds up on your hair and over time actually keeps moisture from absorbing into your hair. If you have ever detoxed your hair from it, and your hair feels like straw as soon as you strip that out you will know what I am saying. Paula is a huge fan of cones and there is a lot of debate over them in the formulary industry. They are cheap and not needed in hair products unless you have very course and curly hair). Cones can be good in hand creams however, at a higher amount because it works like a silicone glove if you are a nurse or someone that washes their hands often. For really dry hands have you tried Camille Beckman products? I haven't purchased her creams in years but they work wonders on my 84 year old mothers hands. Since I make my own products, I haven't tried much of what is on the market today. However, I do remember liking the Kiss my Face Olive and Aloe products. It was a good all over head to toe formula. Now days I use unrefined shea butter or EVOO on my wet face most of the time. I keep it simple as the less ingredients on the face the better IMHO. Basically, a very basic formula is all you need for your body. Even basic cetaphil or eucerin cream will work for dry hands and body but since they are heavy in mineral oils they will sit on top of your skin much longer than something made of different oils. If you want some luxury, LUSH puts out some nice body creams. Or you can just stick with something as simple as keeping baby oil or even shea oil, safflower oil, olive oil, cocoa butter, etc. in the shower and putting that on your entire body while rinsing off. Over time my eyes have become very sensitive and itchy. I've always worn eye makeup -- tons and tons. I never go out without eye makeup. Love it but the last few years, just putting on eye liner is very itchy. So I have some work arounds. First, I use Visine soothing drops before trying to put on any makeup. I like Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes liner pencils -- soft and not too expensive. Sephora has them. Then I fill in with Milani eye liner. It's inexpensive and has an accurate brush. Drugstore.com has it. I've gone around with mascara but always come back to Lancome. They have a base coat/lash conditioner that makes the mascara go on easier and say on very well without irritation. Another mascara that has worked well is Laura Mercier though it didn't thicken enough for me LOL. There are a few removers that work well. I find I need more than one. Lancome's Bi Facil is my longtime staple. It gets most any eye make up off very easily. But then I go over my eyes with the Eye Scrub Lyban linked above -- also from drugstore.com It's sterile in sealed pouches and removes the little bits. I also sometimes use Klorane Floral lotion which is very mild. My eye lids were awfully dry a few years ago -- my skin has become dryer over all. I use Mario Badescu Special Eye Cream V every night. It's sheer and doesn't irritate. Mario Badescu, in NYC., is a salon that makes their own products which are quite gentle. I order those online and usually wait till they have a % off sale and free shipping around holidays. Their emails let you know. They are the best quality/value I've found overall for skin care and the choices are extensive. They have 8 different eye creams depending on skin needs. They also give free samples with order. And their Glycolic Foaming face wash removes all traces of makeup after the two removers -- but leaves skin moist. But there's a whole menu of those too, geared to skin type. I also really love their face creams -- it's hard for me to get any that really moisturize but theirs do. So many suggestions! Will be interesting to see what you like.

I've had issues with seb. derm on and off since HS. (And I totally know what you mean about fantasizing about shaving your head when it gets bad) The old school coal tar works for me but takes a long time, as does Rx ketoconazole shampoo. Selsun blue and some other dandruff shampoos don't. For me (sample size of 1 ;) ) one of the triggers seems to be any kind of shampoo or product buildup on my scalp. (I have no idea why this would cause yeast or other microorganism overgrowth but the correlation is pretty strong) I barely had any problems for years and then I moved somewhere with very hard water and it got really really bad within a few months. I finally realized that the shampoo I was using wasn't rinsing well. I've figured out that with hard water I have to use a good quality shampoo with sodium laureth sulfate or sodium lauryl sulfate. I use it sparingly and only wash my hair every 3 days so the SLS isn't too drying, do a weak ACV or citric acid rinse once or twice a week, and I've only needed to use medicated shampoo once in the past few years.
