rectangular under mounted sink - will they look dated?

We are building a new upstairs bathroom and really like the look of a rectangular under mounted sink. - modern and clean. Thinking about putting the faucets on the wall. From a practical aspect I think it will be great (easy to clean), but will it look dated in a few years.

Personally, I don't think so. Besides, do what you like. I have a Toto Legato sink (square with a trapezoidal basin) and Jado wallmounted faucets. I love the look and get tons of compliments on it.

I hope not, we will have one installed in a couple of weeks. Ours is Toto but smaller than the Legato because our countertop isn't very deep but think we will be pleased.
One thing I paid attention to was the numerous comments/complaints about a sink that has a flat bottom. Seems that water puddles in these after use and some found it necessary to wipe the sink after every use because of th puddles. There were enough comments about this that I purchased one that wasn't flat bottomed (though I liked that look). Good luck.

We have a rectangular cast iron tub. Suggestions for two undercount sinks? Size, shape, manufacturer? I have two rectangular 22x17" Toto's but I am concerned they may be too big. Cabinet will have a bank of drawers and a single sink in a 40x22" cabinet. I generally believe the space under a sink is a huge waste of space. I will have a pull out on the floor of the base but unlike the kitchen sink which usually has ample space on either side, this sink will be on one side of the cabinet so I want to leave enough space on the side with the ledge and still use as little a cabinet for it as possible. All suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks Jules8 for your feedback. I'm not too picky about spotting. This will be a bathroom used daily. I am glad to hear that there isn't splashing. I will be using a single hole Hansgrohe faucet. Thanks for the info about the slope, and as you've indicated it seems too shallow. I have a limited space for the sink in my vanity and this one provides a lot of interior space within the confines of my cabinet. If I decide to get another sink I will have to call the cabinet maker to double check the tolerance I have. The look of this sink is really nice though and I probably will stay with it.

I am considering updating my masterbath w/ cult marble tub, tub surround and dbl sink vanity. A couple places offered integrated rectangular vanity sinks, which caught my eye, just b/c they were different and more masculine looking. Unfortunately, the mfr that gave me the best deal on all the other components does not offer rectangular sinks. They claim the molds cost $700 and they think rectangular sinks are "dated." Also, should the vanity be the same type materials and color as the tub/surround, although the bathroom is small, there is a door separation the tub & vanity?

Cobblestone7, we don't find the sinks annoying in any way. Neither my DH or I wash our faces by splashing water on them with our hands which is apparently why some people like larger sinks. We don't find ourselves having issues with lots of splashing. If have a wall on each side of your vanity, I would think you would definitely like an extra inch or 2 of space next to the walls. Also there may be codes for the amount of space needed between the sinks and from the center of the sinks to the walls. That might be the determining factor for your sink choice. You asked asked about hardware. I assume you mean the faucet. We had intended to use a regular wide spread faucet with separate hot and cold handles but our plumber mistakenly told the granite guys that we were doing a 4 inch center set faucet and we didn't catch that mistake when the fabricator sent us the layout for our approval. So the 3 holes were drilled wrong. We dislike center set faucets so we opted for the single hole/single lever one in the picture. We had to use the estucheon plate to cover the two other holes. So the faucet is just a regular one for a regular size sink. It is Kohler's Forte faucet. I actually have the same faucets in my hall bath which has bigger sinks. My son and daughter both used the Forte faucet in their homes but the just had a single hole so didnt use the estucheon plate. Good luck in your decision.

It probably will look dated. But who cares? Do you like it? That's what matters.

I have flat-sinks in my master bath (Kohler verticyls). I was concerned about the drainage too but it has not been an issue at all. We never have to wipe out the sink after use.

Considering we went with a square sink for the first house we built nearly 30 years ago... and are considering them again...don't think it will be anymore dated than all the other finishings/furniture you will choose in your bathroom! LOL Now if you chose it in purple...

I just put three of them in - Kohler Ladena - beautiful! Anything will look dated depending on new products that come out but I think sink shapes will stand the test of time better than some tile designs, lighting fixtures and such.
