Same story here. I purchased a VERY EXPENSIVE Charmglow Chef's Island version from Home Depot. In less than a year, about a half dozen parts had rusted out. I ordered the replacement parts, which took forever to arrive. Here I am 1 year later, and all of those parts are in need of replacement AGAIN! Fortunately, my husband has skills and has now made several of the parts that had rusted out with stainless steel replacements. However, some of the parts he can not make, and I am having a difficult time finding replacements. The parts that have needed replacement in two years of use are the cooking grids (twice), the heat idicator (thermostat), the collector boxes (twice), all of the heat tents (twice), all of the burners (twice), and some heat plates (separating the burners from the searers), and the ignitor switch. I might as well have just trashed the entire grill, but after spending over $1,000 that was not an option. Never again Brinkmann

One supects that had JD Powers not picked the Miele over the other brands, the poster of the above msg would have included them in the "Self Selected Data Camp" Well, guess what? They didn't pick Miele for "Over All Satisfaction"! Yep they gave the award to Miele, but if you check their "Comparison Chart" (See the link below), the Bosch scored higher. If We look at posts here, There is no comparison between the satisfaction between the 2, Miele wins, Hands down. Why is that----why the big difference between JD Powers, CR and the info here??? I think some of the "Attack Dawgs" here are scaring off ppl from telling the truth here, or not posting about problems with "High End Appliances" because "potential posters" look and see what happened to others when they were not "All Sweet and Honey" about their "High End Appliances" (Witness what happened to the user that posted about Wolf Problems)!!!! Yes they should answer "Has Wolf been out", yet still a vicious attack!!! Now look at the post by the user that had an Amana Fridge fail. (I checked, that poster has been here for 6 years) but usually posts in the Garden Section, and as far as I can tell, this is her first post here-----Nothing wrong with that!!!! If something fails it helps us all to know. So, I think we are scaring off users, particularly those who scrimped and saved to buy the "High End Stuff" and we don't (Here on GW) get a true picture of what life really is, with these appliances. Ya may recalls I was batted about a bit for my investigation of Miele ovens, but now at least we have a "Truer Picture" of at least (at this particular time) What the experience with these ovens has been (Thanks to those of you that had "The Guts" to tell it like it is" If we don't, "Tell it like it is" and encourage other folks, especially new posters (to do the same), then GW will fall into the category that our Southern Calif Friend puts CR in, and we won't be a help to anybody!!! I do have a Miele DW and I like it very well, but if it or any of my appliances have problems, "Rest Assured" that you folks will be the first to know---That's how it should be Regardless of whether it's a Miele, SZ , GE what have ya. Well ours is without question made of 304 stainless. But honestly I don't really see a problem using 430 SS either, depends on the way it was built as in some cases the 430 is better because it holds a weld better and can bend to certain specifications better without cracking. A range made of 430SS inside your house is not going to rust anyway, that is pure nonsense. I DO however think that 430 SS could have more adverse reactions to acidic type foods such as say Tomato Sauce or Lemon juice Vs 304. maybe if you sat it in a corner of an abandoned house for 30 years maybe, but if you use it everyday in a house with AC it is not going to rust, but it very well could have more staining with acidic foods. I think that 304 stainless is critical on a BBQ grill, but not so much on an indoor stove. But I am still glad mine is made of 304 Stainless anyway. But there are many things made of 400 series stainless that work just fine, never rust, one I can think of is most "Food Slicers, Deli meat slicers etc" are made of 400 series stainless. Car exhaust pipes are usually made of 409 stainless because of the better welding and heat resistance. I once had the pleasure of meeting an old guy out in California, he lived in the middle of no where on many acres of land and when I met him I drove through the classic old gate with elk antlers on top and his house was built in around the 1830's, was an old adobe that was built by a Mexican General when California was actually Mexico. House still stands today with the same tile roof, just one addition was added on about 100 years ago but other than that was all original, No AC. He had as his stove a old wood stove that was thickly enameled color of like a seafoam blue/green and all the corners and edges were all Stainless Steel. Had to be a 400 series stainless because I don't think the 300 series was even in use yet. That stove looked like it brand spanking new and at the time I saw it was about 90+ years old. Not a speck of rust on it, of course it was thick as hell but still the surface was still like new. I actually find products "Made in USA" about 75% of the time to be pure crap in every way. I bet 95% of the world views items "made in USA" exactly the way people like Deeageaux does about China. In general about every product I see with "Made in Germany" tag on it is probably about the only one I can generally count on being very well made, I can usually count on a high price for that item also. Most of the working parts in the NXR come from every place except China, it is basically just "Assembled" in China and who better to assemble than those that have been assembling things for decades. Also it is probably the larger brand name companies that are forcing retailers not to carry a quality product that cost far less, that happens all the time in every category of product.

Appliances are like cars - there is no one be-all-end-all answer - you really have to go with what features and style you prefer. Also as with any car, there is maintenance and occasionally service that needs to be performed to keep everything running smoothly. Jena-Air is really trying to position themselves as an ultra-premium brand. To that end they are really stepping up to provide that experience. So one thing to understand in the American appliance industry - there are only a few manufacturers, and sometimes manufacturers will build items for other brand names besides their own. The biggest and most obvious example of this is Sears' Kenmore brand - there is actually no one "Kenmore" manufacturer, just a big warehouse of Kenmore stickers that get shipped out to all the manufacturers who really make these things. Why do I bring this up? KitchenAid and Thermador get high ratings for their built-in refrigerators. Did you know that, up till just a few months ago, KitchenAid made a couple of the Thermador built-in refrigerators? KitchenAid is made by Whirlpool, the same company that makes Jenn-Air (they position Jenn-Air as their top premium brand, with KitchenAid the next step down targeted at foodie-culinary types). KitchenAid Dishwashers are also some of the top rated dishwashers made, along with Bosch. Oh by the way, Bosch makes Thermador. Did you know that JennAir is sourcing with Bosch to manufacture some of their dishwashers? So really, going with Jenn-Air is not a gamble in any sense. They are highly rated high quality appliances. They make some beautiful flush-mount built-ins, have awesome cooking features, and some cool tech to go along with it. If you search the web for any appliance or brand you will find complaints. No one, as far as I know, has created the 100%-reliable-universally-designed-pleases-all-the-people-all-the-time home appliance yet. As for buying, Jenn-Air has two programs going right now. One is called "Compliments of Jenn-Air" where if you buy certain combinations of appliances, you get a credit toward the purchase of another appliance... like a free dishwasher when you buy a range or oven/cooktop. They also have a builder program where a builder can register to receive a discounted price from any authorized retailer. Other than that, the pricing is UMRP, meaning unilaterally priced across all dealers.
