Polished Marble Tile Dull After Grout? Pics Inside - Help Appreciated
Comments (11)@dostk did you ever resolve this? We had a white and gray honed marble mosaic installed and after grouting, the whole area looks completely different. The stone doesn't look anything like the uninstalled mosaic, now it has almost a dull/frosted glass (not shiny) look to it ... is the best way I can try to describe it. Basically it doesn't even read as marble to me anymore. As far as I know, our contractor's installer did not seal it before hand (it was still in the boxes and packing sleeves) and used a sanded grout. The option of sanded or unsanded was never mentioned to us and as newbies we didn't know to ask. Is there anything that can be done to bring the original look back or is this just expected and we should have done a mock up as someone mentioned before?...See MoreSealing Crackle Waterworks Architectonics Tile prior to install?
Comments (1)We are installing waterworks architectonics crackle Ice Water 3x6 tile for a kitchen backsplash. I will be using a certified tile installer. The waterworks site states: Tile should be sealed PRIOR to grouting. Dark grout may stain crackle tile. • Waterworks recommends a grouted test panel prior to installation to understand final appearance of grouted materials. • Seal tile and grout joints after installation and maintain regularly. To seal it prior to install, how would I best do this? Thank you!...See MoreHow do I clean grout stain from my ceramic tile? Crazing?
Comments (10)I don't think that is intentional crazing (euphemistically called a "crackle" finish). I think those are just busted glaze and I don't think you can get the grout out of those tiny cracks. I would be very angry at my tile distributor right about now! If you can't pull them out and redo it, consider a vintage themed bathroom? "I meant to do that."...See MoreWood Tile floor, wrong grout size/color - regrout or stain?
Comments (7)DeWayne: I went to the Emser store twice to make sure I could have very thin grout lines with this tile but too late now. The grout joint recommendation of their "Product Page" is 5/64 inches, very frustrating to say the least. apm2fc03qvrngicpmkh7 (salsify.com) The magic words about the grout colorant are "if applied properly", I don't have a lot of confidence in this company at the moment and I have 3,000sf that needs to be done. I will give Customer Service a call to get some more info before I make a final decision. I appreciate all the help, if anyone else has an opinion on the best way to change the grout color, I'm all ears....See Morejssaustintx
