We have had the GE single/double oven since early October. We find it to be a very good performer, well built, well insulated, bakes well, and we are impressed. It fit exactly in the space of our old GE 30 inch oven. The racks are ceramic coated so that during self-clean they do not discolor. The top oven is perfect for pizza, has a pizza mode, and works very well with casseroles or buns. Both ovens heat quickly, both self clean, and since it has a dark gray interior, doesn't show soil, like the old light gray GE. Bottom oven is also convection, however only two racks, and has a slow-cook feature, similar to a crock pot. As far as exposed elements go, sure do heat the oven more quickly than a hidden element. More space was gained since the controls are imbedded in the top oven glass door....a very clever use of space. We are extremely pleased.

Glad I could help. We can all use a little savings. As for the granite guy, he was referred to us by someone at the distributor. He also called me the day after the installation to see if the cooktop fit OK, which I thought was a nice touch. Also, I failed to mention that the installer also hauled off our old appliances for us, which was a big help. No extra charge for that.

YES. i used mine for the FIRST time yesterday (6/27/2022) and it shutdown 2 hours into the clean, blew the fuse, bottom door was locked, and the panel was blacked out. this happened also last november when i was baking bread. not only did it blow the fuse, but the circuit breaker in the garage as well. from what i hear from my friends that have kitchenaid ovens -- do not ever use the self-clean because it blow the fuse EVERY TIME! i complained to kitchenaid/whirlpool about this issue yesterday, vehemently, and have not heard a peep from them. one thing for certain, it keeps the kitchenaid repairmen in business because every holiday (thanksgiving/christmas) when ladies are planning to do a lot of cooking, they try and clean their ovens. last november, mine crashed a week before thanksgiving (was baking sourdough bread). the repair service response: "too bad, so sad. will not be able to get parts or service your oven until two weeks AFTER thanksgiving. heads up people...DO NOT USE THE SELF-CLEAN button when you are a few weeks shy of a major holiday. you will be cooking in crockpots, outdoor grills, and on the stove. to my knowledge kitchenaid has not addressed this issue in their ovens. but it's just not kitchenaid, from what i heard from the repair guys, it's viking, bosch, etc. too. doesn't matter how much you pay for your ovens - THEY DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU EVER USE YOUR SELF-CLEAN program! BTW....in november, my warranty had not yet expired, but was going to expire waiting to get service and parts. they are still the best, they just need to fix this problem - it's been ongoing for almost a decade now according to this blog. If there is a class action lawsuit in the works, I would like to join. maybe a little legal pressure will force them to ultimately fix this very dangerous problem.

When I was looking at my oven cabinet today - I noticed something. The oven cabinet is a deep cabinet. With a shallow cabinet on top (flush with the front of the oven cabinet - but there's a space behind it). So - basically - the hot air from the oven can go straight out of the oven cabinet up into the kitchen. Perhaps this prevents heat-buildup in the oven cabinet which can lead to other problems. steff1 - were you getting parts under the original manufacturer's 1 year warranty? Frankly - I don't understand why any appliance shouldn't work for a year without needing service. Although apparently a lot of them don't these days . With regard to self-cleaning oven racks in the oven - I've done it for years. Yes - they won't shine after they're cleaned - but they'll be clean - and perfectly functional (except for those new full extension racks that have plastic glides and the like - they shouldn't be self-cleaned - parts will melt - I'll probably remove them and put them in the closet). Last thing in the world I want to do is spend my time cleaning oven racks - or any tedious cleaning I can avoid. I love my cook top - because I can scrape off all the cooked on gunk with a razor blade. Apply a little cook top polish - good as new. I like to cook :) - don't like to clean :(. BTW - my choices were somewhat limited because I wanted a white oven (e.g., no Monogram available in white). I have a "white on white" kitchen - and one stainless appliance would probably stick out like a sore thumb. All the other appliances are working fine. And considering the reliability of new appliances these days - I won't replace my old ones until they're dead (or any needed repairs don't make economic sense). I did buy the KA at Sears today. Delivery in about 3 weeks. Will report back after installation and use. Robyn
