Well for any-sized tomato, it seems to me that the best-tasting fresh cults usually can be relied upon to produce superior derivatives like sauce and juice. For your ind ones, I would suggest continuing with Brandy Boy and definitely do Kellogg's Breakfast for your BLT's. However, BOTH are very good for eating by themselves without anything else accompaning them.

For a double decker BLT, you could construct a BLT with one thick slice of BB and KB. Both tom slices being interlaced with lettuce and bacon. Then finally framed twixt lightly-mayo'd toasted bread slices..

My favorite BLT tomato is Mortgage Lifter. All of the beefsteaks are pretty good for BLTs in my opinion. And to me, all the beefsteaks taste pretty similar. So, in my garden it comes down to which produces the best. Mortgage Lifter yields tons of BLT worthy tomatoes for me.

Brandywine does have a unique flavor and it being a beefsteak makes it great for a BLT. However, Brandywine doesn't yield well at all in my garden and because of that I dont grow it anymore.

Year before last I grew 127 varieties most of which were beefsteaks. Mortgage Lifter was the best in terms of yield, vigor, earliness and health. It was in the top 5 for taste, too.

If that was my list I would cut out Red Brandywine all together and maybe only grow one or two Brandywine OTVs for their unique flavor. With the space I freed up by cutting out Red Brandywine I would fill with Mortgage Lifter. It is my favorite tomato and I grow tomatoes for a living, for what thats worth.

Just about any good to superb tomato suits me just fine on a BLT, but I'd have to say Aunt Ginny's Purple is one of my favorites for either a BLT, or just a basic tomato sandwich. Very juicy tomato. Warning -- can make the bread soggy if you don't eat it immediately, and does tend to make a bit of a mess. Don't wear your best shirt while having one. :-)

Tends to be mid-late to late in my garden, though.

I think Marianna's Peace makes a great BLT. On your list, I'd think Aunt Gertie's Gold would also be a good candidate.

Thanks for all the responses, does anyone have any suggestions on the heat tolerant varieties? I only have room for 3 but being I only can grow 8 plants those are very inportant to me as well.

Do you know which type of Mortgage Lifter you tried? There are definite differences in the quality of the different types. We do grow several different kinds of tomatoes every year but Estler's ML's are always in the garden, and when the first one gets ripe I make a special trip to a rather expensive deli just for their thick-sliced bacon.

As for the other varieties on your list, I've not grown most of them but 2: Kellogg's Breakfast is quite tasty but can be rather sweet, so we decided they were better for just slicing on a plate rather than on a sandwich. Cherokee Purple is a little more "tomato-y" tasting to us and we liked them on BLT's just fine.

I think Russian 117 makes a great BLT/tom sandwich (seed/meat ratio is good, size is perfect, taste is excellent). As does Anna Russian, Opalka, Omars Lebanese - but from your list Cherokee Purple would make a good BLT as well. :)

I have heard good things about that strain of ML but I am not sure I am willing to give up a spot this year to give it a try but when I get more space I will have to put it on the list because I did like the size of the tomatoes I got on the ML's I grew.

I would add Ultimate Giant, Pineapple or Hillbilly, and Sunset's Red Horizon (Rostova) as good BLT candidates. I have not tried the Rostova yet, but have read good things about it. I am also trying Opalka next summer, hoping it will be more "drip free" for sandwich use.

IMHO Supersonic is the best for BLTs. It is my favorite tomato for this, in fact, it is my favorite, period. It has just the right firmness so it doesn't fall apart and tastes wonderful. It also crops better, in my garden at least, than any of the others mentioned (with the possible exception of the 4 determinate varieties I have no experience with). The only tomato I thought came even close was Earl's Faux, but it was MUCH later than the Supersonic. Supersonic has had a place in my garden since it was introduced.
