You're missing the boat by a wide margin. Caspian Pink is a second rater at best. Black Krim and Cherokee Purple are good, but you need more flavor choices.

Crnkovic Yugoslavian - huge fruit, out of this world flavor.
Eva Purple Ball - outstanding production of good flavored tomatoes.
Kellogg's Breakfast - a light orange tomato that will make your toes curl it is so good.
Red Brandywine - this is a producer and a half and the flavor is pretty good too.
Aunt Ruby's German Green - phenomenal light sweet tomato flavor.
Daniels - This one is the best alternative I've grown to Brandywine. It is more productive and flavor just as good.
Black From Tula - better production than Black Krim and excellent flavor
J.D.'s Special C-Tex - the hands down best tasting tomato in my garden last season. I've eaten better, but this one will blow your mind for flavor.

These are just a few of the options you could try. Jump in with both feet.

I can't directly respond to your question re my source because of gardenweb's non-commercialization requirements. However, I can suggest you do a google search for 'heirloom tomato plants' and look through the top 10 entries for 'selected plants' for your area.

Ignore Brandy Boy. There are better and more productive heirloom varieties available.

Aunt Ruby's German Green turns a very pale yellow color on the bottom of the fruit when it is ripe. You can also pinch a fruit and if it is soft, then it is ready. Give it a try, you won't have any trouble telling when they are ripe.

My personal opinion is that i don't care for Black Krim or Cherokee Purple. Think they are overrated. I grew them 2 summers in a row (different conditions) and still didn't like them. Flavor is fine, but nothing like my Brandywine. Only problem i had with BW is output was very low. Not many maters per plant. My other fav was Wisconsin 55.

Try 'em all and then you can come to your own conclusions. Its fun and worth it.

Can someone please tell me- what is this (Daniels) tomato I keep reading so much about lately.

Daniels is a large pink potato leaf beefsteak tomato with excellent flavor very comparable to Brandywine. That alone is saying a LOT! In addition, it is also a very productive tomato typically producing about twice as much as Brandywine.

For me, Caspian Pink has always been a complete success both in production and taste.

Cherokee Purple I grew for many years and it has been an every year tomato. A couple of years ago I tried Carbon and it has been even better than CP in my area.

Black Krim is one of the overrated varieties in my opinion. This year I am growing several "blacks" to better rank these popular varieties. Compared to 8 or 10 black varieties we taste test every year at our local tomato gathering, BK is at or near the bottom.

Take into account the area/climate differences from there to here, however.

I am so enjoying reading all of your posts. It's cold and I'm trying to decide which tomatoes to order so I appreciate your comments. I use Seed Savers Exchange. I've had very good luck with them. Kind of pricy but good selection.

Well, I didn't get any Brandywines for Christmas but I do have all 3 children visiting....and they came from all over the USA. That is better than tomatoes. But this thread reminded me I have my last few tomatoes, picked green in October, ripening on a back corner of the counter. Today is supposed to be the day we finish them off. I better go dig them out from behind the cookies and pies! Thanks for the reminder :)
