Frigidaire appliances

I am thinking about replacing the 6 year old Kenmore appliances that came with my house(fridge, wall oven, and dishwasher). I bought a Frigidaire frontload washer 3 years ago, and have been very pleased, so I was considering Frigidaire appliances for my kitchen.

I have a limited budget, and I find Frigidaire to be affordable and nice looking, with the features I want.

I am looking at a 26 cu ft stainless side by side fridge model # FRS6LF7JS, dishwasher model #PLD2855RFC, and single electric wall oven #PLEB30S9FC.

The oven is a convection oven. I have never had one before. Do they really cook faster? I would be happy with a conventional oven, but the hidden bake element I want is only available in a convection model.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I have a budget of around $3000- $4000, including installation. The prices I found for these models are $1200 for the fridge, $600 for the dishwasher, and $1250 for the oven, which brings me to $3050 plus tax, delivery, and installation. I'm sure if we shop around, we can get a good deal on the installation and delivery.

For $600 I think you can get a Bosch dishwasher, which I'd do before I'd get a Frigidaire. We had a lower end Frigidaire in our temporary quarters while we built our house and it was loud and terrible. I just looked on us-appliance.com and see that the Bosch 300 Series Evolution is available for under $600, but still has a stainless steel tub, is Energy Star rated with the Sensotronic feature that adjusts energy and water usage as necessary to save on both, and their 2 pump motor system, which makes them so much quieter.

We've had Frigidaire fridges, which seemed to be fine. A cheaper Frigidaire outlasted and outperformed a more expensive Maytag we bought at the same time. The Maytag shelves broke and the evaporator motor went out at 15 months, while the Frigidaire worked on without a problem.

I'm not sure about Frigidaire ovens. I've had good luck with GE Profile, so based on my experience, if it were me, I'd go that route. But as I said, I don't have experience with Frigidaire to count them out. It depends on what and how you cook whether or not the convection is worth it. I have convection, which is particularly good for roasting meat, and also nice for multiple racks of cookies, but I no longer feel it's a necessity, and use my regular ol' "Bake" function as much as the convection. It's nice to have if the oven isn't too much smaller inside...Check your favorite pans in the models you're considering.

It's not necessary or even recommended to get all appliances of the same brand. I'd get the ones that are best for your money in each category, rather than trying to match.

I can't speak to the convection feature, since my Frigidaire doesn't have it, but I've been pleased with my near-top-line Frigidaire gas stove for the five years plus that I've had it. In fact, I am in the middle of remodeling an investment property and had no hesitation in choosing another Frigidaire range. Almost picked out a Frigidaire -- umm -- fridge, too, but got a good deal on a more efficient Whirlpool. I'd pass on a Frigidaire DW at that price, but the ranges are fine and the fridges are okay now, too.

After just getting off the phone with Frigidaire/Electrolux customer service, I felt it would be appropriate to inform all potential appliance buyers as to my experience. Unfortunately my review is not positive. We have been in a custom built home for approximately 3.5 years that we bought from a builder. The builder used all Frig "Professional" appliances - Huge full size fridge/freezer side by side, stove top range, dual built-in ovens, dishwasher and microwave. We have had to have service on every single appliance within the last 24 months with the last call being about a power supply issue with the microwave. The service calls are being done through our home warranty program and not Frigidaire. Unbeknownst to me, the factory warranty is only for 1 year. I guess they are familiar with their own quality issues and won't provide anything further unless you buy an extended plan. Today's customer service call was a request on my end to ask for some assistance in replacing the microwave as the HW company stated that the repair was greater than the value of the built-in microwave. Furthermore, due to the frequency in which we are experiencing problems with all of the "Professional" series appliances and the fact that a 3.5 year old appliance is useless, I was hoping for a couple of good faith options. The agent, who was very nice, was texting a supervisor, stated that the item was only covered for 1 year and they were not obligated to do anything further as it was not covered. Fair enough, just not my type of vendor/partner and want others to know this as well. Certainly, for the money, there a better performing appliances out there. Frigidaire management should be a little more in tune with customer experience as this will have a much greater negative impact over the long term than if they had been supportive in options for a single microwave unit that didn't measure up to good quality in the short term. Safe to say, will never buy a Frigidaire appliance again and I will make sure that friends, family and colleagues all hear my grievance.

its very hard to find a selection in a local store. If you want to know what frigidaire makes you should be combing through the AJ Madison website. They have all the Frigidaire Appliances. Frigidaire makes over the range microwaves & they now have the lowest priced over the range + convection. Every above the range micrwave comes with a vent. The best value is Frigidare. I purchased a Frigidaire Pro Series Electric Freestanding range in stainless steel. It was a leap of faith after reading all the comments about maintenance of stainless; however, I have been delighted to find it to be the easiest to clean of any of my past stoves. The Frigidaire has a beautiful finish to it......now maintenance of the black glasstop is another story.

My kitchen had all Frigidaire Gallery Professional appliances. They were installed in 2000, by the house's previous owner. The refrigerator died in 2012 (12 years life), I forget what the problem was but some fluid was pooling under the unit and the repairman said it couldn't be fixed (part not available). The range died this month (16 years) and it will cost $600 to fix the multiple problems, including circuit board, temperature sensors, and LCD display (but the burner that won't self-light cannot be fixed, part NLA). The dishwasher still works, but the door cladding has come off its frame a few times, the springs that lower the door have broken, the lower rack is missing half its wheels, so we'll replace it next year (17 years). I'm not sure if 12-16 years is generally considered a good service life for modern appliances, but I don't think it is acceptable. I replaced the refrigerator with a commercial True T49. We just ordered a new range, an American Range ARROB636. Now I'm shopping for dishwashers. In general, I'm looking for the simplest models with as few electronics as possible.

Hi just a thought, but if you are a Costco member, they will sell you a whole kitchen full of stainless appliances, made by Whirlpool. You might check out the price, and the individual models. www.costco.com.

Another thought. The Kenmore appliances you will be replacing might be made by Frigidaire or Whirlpool. Since they are only six years old, and apparently still working, I'd be certain I was getting better performance before I replaced them. Is it worth changing apples to apples? Or is it better to deal with 'the devil you know?'
