What the heck is it and where do I get it? I've never met an oxheart I don't like. Anyone have any oxheart suggestions (besides Anna Russian, Russian 117, Orange Russian 117, 'Oxheart', Bullsheart - I've tried these already and loved them). Any other suggestions?

I'm sure Jeff will see your thread title and tell you what it is, or isn't, in other words it was not what he expected from the variety he planted so he named it.

He sent me seeds and I sent them on to a friend who does all my new variety seed production for me since I no longer can do that. She wasn't doing seed production on Jeff's, but did grow it out and said it was quite good.

I reckon TN Ruckus has some JMO seeds (actually JMPO). And I do as well. I can get some to you... gimme your mailing address. I will provide the full genesis of the derivation of the name, if you are so interested. JMO produces good heart-shaped deep pink-when-ripe fruits weighing 7-15 oz. borne on (somewhat wispy RL) large indet. plants. I have (effectively) both F1 (2006) and F2 (2007) versions of its seed.

And Carolyn, you may be halt of foot, but your mental faculties do not miss a step, esp. when it comes to remembering stuff related to tomato cults. I was astounded at your apparent instant recollection of this very trivial event (my sending you a few seeds).

I can agree with Dr. Carolyn's "quite good" comment. Jeff sent me a few seeds this year and I grew 'em out. They were great! My grandma said "You just can't beat them oxheart's!" Her father grew tomatoes way back when and she's grown them for years, so she knows a thing or two about the humble fruit. I had bit of trouble from what I think was a fungal infection on my JMPO, so I'll be spraying the plants next year. I'd send you some seeds, but since it seems Jeff himself has already offered them I'll hang back.

OK Ruckus, I do have F1 and F2 JMPO seed to send to TomatoLover... if he wants them. (Do you want some JMPO TL ¿ ). Ruckus' Grandma apparently likes JMPO very much.

Now TL, JMPO is likely just a mix-up and thus is just not a new variety at all. But not on my part... wherein resides the mystery. Nevertheless, JMPO tom cult is very ironic because its shape is the reciprocal of its putative form. And ironic for its otherwise not-yet-to-be-revealed-here anomalies.

Ruckus (or her Grandma) may be able to provide more information on aforesaid statement.

In my experience of tomato growing there is NOTHING like an oxheart. Oh, and also, Grandma's are usually RIGHT! I'm always on the look out for them and ran across an old thread that touched upon JMO (JMPO) and how much folks enjoyed it.

True, I have not grown nor tasted Jeff's Mystery Oxheart.

But bcday, who has been doing my seed production for me for new heirloom varieties sent to me seems to like/dislike most of the same varieties that I like/dislike, so I trust her judgment on taste and performance.

When I get around to sending my paltry list of 12 plant wants, down from the usual 500 before I fell in Dec of 2004, to gardenmama in VA, if I have enough room I could grow it, though.

I'm blessed that gardenmama and bcday allow me to keep going re tomatoes which allows me to list the new ones in the SSE Yearbook as well as offering some of them elsewhere and also sending to those seed companies I trust and have had a long term relationship with seeds of what I think are exceptionally good /have historical significance, for their grow out trials.

For heaven's sake, I've grown a few over 2000 varieties but I have maybe 10,000 more to grow and I can't do it.

So someone else can grow all OP's extant, but it won't be me. LOL
