Tomato choice help for 2009.

Well, here we go again!

2008 was a pretty awful year as fat as tomatoes go, between bugs, diseases, gophers, too much manure, and my own incompetence. I'm a reasonably smart guy, I think, but tomatoes continue to baffle me. I try to remember that every humiliation is a blessing from God.

Now, for next year's prospective line-up, so far. I'm going to keep things simpler this year and plant some of my favorites as well as some older on-hand seeds that didn't get a fair shake. I could use, however, some suggestions, particularly for interesting new cherries. The cherries are the ones I usually eat myself.

Returning from saved seeds:

1. Burgundy Traveler

2. Indian Stripe

3. Black Pineapple (The family loved it; I didn't)

4. Pruden's Purple.

5. Black Cherry

6. Gardener's Delight

Getting another chance:

5. Neve's Azorean

6. Cherokee Green

7. Russian 117

8. Riesentraube

New ones to order (so far):

9. Big White Pink Stripes (just for the looks)

  1. Jaune Flamme
  2. Break O' Day
  3. Noir de Crimee (from Sandhill)

I also need advice about amending my soil again, but I'll leave that for later.
