Call them and get the serial number, then check with Gaggenau with the serial number and dealer name. I bought a "factory refurbished" combi on eBay. I checked with Gaggenau and verified the warranty. However it was so used that the inside was rusting and flaking. Probably the only refurb done was to make sure it worked. Seller refunded promptly including all shipping, but it was still a big waste of time waiting for delivery, uncrating, recrating. I bought another combi, never hooked up demo which is in perfect shape (I had to replace a nicked drain hose, but I knew that ahead), but has no warranty. So far so good (but I've only verified it works in my garage).

Someone else was talking about this not so long ago. You might try doing a search of the forum (search box on bottom--never top, or Google). The trick to doing this gracefully is to have at least an inch of cabinetry showing between the two ovens. I have that between my two Gaggs, as well. What it does is give you a visual separation between the two appliances. This is especially important when they don't match. The glass door and distinctive control panel of the Gaggenau area especially distinctive. Best to embrace the difference and just go with it. Do make sure that you have adequate space for the plumbing. It can go in a different cupboard for the most part--it doesn't have to go behind the larger oven.

We are getting a Gaggenau steam oven because the Thermador chef at the builder show told us that if his house was on fire he would take his Gaggeneau steam oven with him. He was telling my husband that is it larger and he can start smoking his meats in his smoker for 4-5 hours and then finish in the steam oven. The Gaggenau is the largest one so my husband was sold. We are getting the Thermador convection oven (I know they don't match but Thermador doesn't give you credit for buying 2 ovens with them. I love that the Thermador convection oven also has a dehydrator with it too! We are doing Thermador induction stove top and then you get the dishwasher for free. I'm so excited for the induction stovetops (but we are plumbing for gas in case when we sell someone wants gas or when I get old and the pans are too heavy, I can switch to gas. I just hate having to take off the grills to clean underneath because I always have things spilling below the grill. It will be so nice to just wipe off and to be able to use the surface to serve on because it cools so quickly when you take away the pans.

Plumbed! SO much more convenient! With plumbed you never have to worry about running out of water for steam; it's automatic. The plumbed unit also drains all the water, which you will have to wipe out of an unplumbed unit. You'll need a connection for the water to drain, and this is done with a gravity fed hose no more than 15' long. The oven must be positioned at least at countertop height if you are draining to a sink drain. We had to drain straight down through the floor, so the height requirement didn't apply, but we chose to stack the steam oven over the Gagg convection oven. You'll also want an easy way to connect & shut off the water without pulling out the unit. Our water connection is located in the back of the cabinet above the steam oven. We had our contractor build a slide-in boxlike cover to protect & hide the plumbing, and we use the cabinet to store the trays & pans for the steam oven.
