broiling in a DF 30' range (electric oven)
Comments (1)If you like to broil, you won't be happy with an electric broiler over a gas one. Why not get another DCS or a Capital or Bluestar AG range - you're not limited to Wolf....See More30' ranges in between GE Profile and Wolf/Bluestar?
Comments (28)I didn't buy extended warranties on any of my appliances and came out WAY ahead. The DCS, at least when I bought mine, had a 5 year warranty on the burners. When I had ignition problems they replaced all my ignitors with newly designed ones (although someone else on this forum said that DCS told him that ignitors weren't covered by the burner warranty.) They also sent me a newly designed island trim piece which redirected the oven exhaust gases better - they gave me the part free but not installation - I got a friend to help me install it. The general wisdom is that extended warranties are not a good deal except on laptops and HDTVs (I would have made out a little if I'd had one on my laptop). Basically you're better off saving the money and paying repairs out of pocket although you will hear stories from people who've had problem appliances and done well with their extended warranties....See MoreLooking for a good DF 30" range
Comments (13)A recirculating canopy/chimney hood is close to worthless. A recirculating over the range microwave is much worse. Under code you can install any kind of range you want as long as it is certified for residential use and not commercial. Gas cooktops produce water vapor and carbon dioxide. If they are not properly calibrated and having orange flames they also produce carbon monoxide. The best burners, like the CC, put 50% of the heat directly into the pan but most put about 75% into the ambient air around the kitchen. I would really look into getting a proper hood to vent outside. If not possible I would get an induction range. Electric but just as powerful as gas, and no combustion by product or waste heat. it all goes into the pan. You can read induction threads in the forum about all the pros and cons. There was a recent NY Times article about Kitchen venting and mentions the overall effectiveness of recirculating hoods. Calling them "forehead greasers" lol. Comments (23)Hi, I'm new here, but I found this thread and was interested to hear everyone's thoughts. We're just starting remodeling and I have room for an AG or DF range, plus another oven. I've been looking at all the discussions around the Wolf 36" ranges, and now I'm beginning to think I should get the AG range, and make the second oven electric. But I've heard folks say they have issues with lighting the burners on the Wolf when the oven is on? I do a lot of cooking and some baking, although my baking is usually cookies, brownies, cakes, not bread. What would you do, given the option?...See Moremaire_cate
