We had our kitchen done in June of last year and picked the exact fridge you are considering. So far we like it alot. We did not have it recessed so it extends about 6" from the countertop. The contractor did box it in with panels that match the cabinets which extends out to the hinges. We only have a couple of minor gripes with this fridge:

Tough to keep stainless clean (bothers my wife more than me and it applies to all SS appliances)

At times when the ice if full a few cubes may fall behind the draw when it is pulled open. Not a big deal just a minor annoyance.

If you do select this (or any other FD) fridge I would make sure that if you decide to recess it, that you are still able to fully open the doors.

We purchased the GE Profile FD PFSF2MJXWW this past summer and love it. It does have the external water dispenser. It is not counter depth and things do not get lost in the back. Ours is only 22cu ft while the model you're considering is 25cu ft but I don't think you'll have a problem with things getting lost. We haven't had a problem with ice falling out when you pull out the full ice tray. The only time the water dispenser seems to leak is when DH uses it. When he is home the reservoir is filled with water. He went out of town for a week & the reservoir stayed dry the entire time. This leads me to conclude it is him pulling the glass away too soon before the water stops. So far the only problem we have is remembering which side of the fridge we put something. Enjoy

We've got the counter depth FD version of the fridge. The external water is OK, but slow--probably an ounce per second. I guess that's normal, but it's the first one we've had. If there was a choice, I'd probably take just the ice dispenser and forgo the water. But our water is pretty good from the tap anyway. I do find the cover of the internal ice dispenser tends to fall off if you're not careful. We've also had to play with the temp settings a couple of times when the water line froze up. I've been a little disappointed in the integrity of the bins, etc., a couple of them are cracked already after only a year and a half.

I LOVE the bottom freezer style, we're able to keep the fridge so much cleaner when everything's eye level. The counter depth helps too, no more mystery science experiments hiding in the back. We got the french door because we thought it would give us better clearance with an adjacent angled cabinet, but truthfully I'd prefer a single door.

OK. Now I am also looking at the Stainless Steel Samsung 29.0 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator w/ Premium External Water & Ice Dispenser (model# RFG297AARS). I found out from my contractor that I can fit a full size frig as they are going to recess it into the new wall to look like it is counter depth.
Does anyone have experience with this Samsung? It seems to have everything we are looking for but would appreciate any advice from anyone who has used this. Or should we stick with the GE Profile? Samsung makes both so the inside is the same but I like the Samsung ice on the door better as it takes up less room.
