Getting frustrated from complaints!!

I've been living in my apartment for about 8 months now and I love it. It's 2 levels and 4 apartments per level. The neighbors on my level are all very friendly, easy going people. I live in a dog building (there are dog buildings and non-dog friendly buildings) and my dog is a 10 pound very trained pooch.

About 2 months ago I received a complaint that someone said I wasn't cleaning up my dog's poop and if I didn't start, they were going to take action against me. My dog poops about 3 times a week, and 2 out of 3 times it won't be at my home (he goes with me everywhere including work). When he does poop at my apartment, he does it near the dumpster and I've always picked it up and tossed it, no big deal.

Today I got a second complaint that I'm not picking up my dog's poop and on top of that 2 more complaints. #2-They added that I need to stop smoking in my apartment and in the hallway. Problem is, I don't smoke..my fiance doesn't smoke..we don't have anyone over smoking. #3-They said my fiance has to stop playing music at 11:30 at night (he often carries music equipment in and out of our apartment because hes a musician, but rents a practice space in town where he actually uses it).

Sooo..the point of this post is that I've received 3 complaints. All 3 complaints are completely false. Management is threatening me, and I'm getting furious but short of collecting my dog's poop for them, letting them sniff my apartment for signs of smoking, and keeping a recording on sounds from my apartment..how do I prove myself? I'm sure that it's the people directly below me (they're the only ones that don't talk to me, the man hates dogs, and everyone in my building complains about them because they smell bad and their kids run screaming through the apartment). I'm thinking they're just making up complaints to take the heat off themselves. harumph!

First of all,whoever is complaining against you as far as the dog pooping thing goes~has absolutely no proof it is you. You need to make this clear to management that you are in fact not the only one with a dog,and that unless someone actually videotapes you not picking up your dog poop~ it is but their word against yours!
Second,tell them you strongly dont appreciate being accused of smoking when you do not! And dont be nice about it! Tell them if they want to pay for you to have a physical or bloodwork drawn to prove it,you will,but other wise get off your back!
And finally,invite the management to come visit you at 11:30 at night to see you in fact are not playing music.
I have found that sometimes,you have to complain about people who complain about you.Someone complained we leave a Floodlight on all night and it disturbs their sleep.They left a note on the door,but didnt bother telling me who they were.
I complained to the rental office that it wasnt my light,that is was in fact installed by maintaince as a measure of security.Because why the heck would I have a flood light on all night???
Dont let these people bully you.Stand your ground. Tell them you'll go over THEIR heads (if you can~write to a corparate office maybe)

Tell management that you are tired of being unjustly accused and are keeping a record of each and every unsubstantiated complaint they send. Tell them if they don't get off your back (or at least let you face your accuser) you will be contacting your tenants association and/or an attorney to file a harassment complaint of your own.

You can also have the stray dog poop analyzed to see is if it matches YOUR dog's DNA.

Definitely contact Mike about it, and good luck. In all my years of buying through the LA, I've only had one bad experience and one horrible one. The bad one got resolved thanks to Mike, and I lost my money on the horrible one. The seller was evidently a fake, and by the time I figured it out, he/she was long gone and there was nothing anyone could do. I wasn't the only buyer to whom this happened with this "fake seller" either, but that's little consolation when you're out over 100 bucks. Wow. I feel bad for you. I am having the same issues with my next door neighbor. I'm only 6 months into my lease and he complained twice to the office, probably 3-4 times by knocking on my door and pounding on the wall. Which I'm starting to feel like he is harassing us. I cannot believe the things these other peeps are telling you. I agree with you that it is an apartment and there are going to be noises regardless of the time of the day. If you cannot handle the noise, do not live in an apartment. My neighbor works from home and I'm guessing he works at night. But I shouldn't have to quiet down just so he could focus on his job. I'm paying for rent just like everybody else, why should I try to please my neighbor or follow his rules. I respect my neighbors and never make noises intentionally. I'm just having my normal conversations with my fiancee and sometimes I do have family and friends over, but we are usually quiet before 10pm. We do our weekly cleaning and vaccuming. We also noticed that the neighbor is bothered by the way we open and shut our doors. The doors in our unit likes to snap-in shut when its like an inch away from the lock. This neighbor just don't want any kind of noise. I am not going to shut up and be quiet like a mice. I'm not being disruptive or disrepecting my neighbors. He even had the audacity to say he never had any issues with his next door neighbors until we moved in. After numerous complaints, we had to go and ask our neighbors around our unit including the ones downstairs if they can hear us and if we were ever too loud. They all said we are fine and they don't hear anything from our unit besides normal things like walking around and dropping things. Sometimes I feel like he is delusional. We even spoke to the management team and they agreed with us that IT IS an apartment, there are going to be noises. If this neighbor renews his lease then thats too bad, hes going to have to deal with us. You just keep doing your thing girl.

If the installer isn't comfortable with doing what you want, they're not likely to change their mind. Find another contractor and tell them you won't hold them responsible for adhesion failure. I've been told to be wary of Gypcrete but an old client of mine bought a house with engineered plank glued directly to Gypcrete. When he wanted to add wood in the bedrooms, I duplicated what was there with no problem. I did inform him that it wasn't recommended and that I couldn't assume the risk if it failed. Engineered flooring shouldn't move enough to pull the Gypcrete apart but it would be a good idea to do a bond test. That said, I see no reason why floating cork wouldn't work. It would be better to use the squares than the rolls. I also see no reason why you couldn't glue down the cork and float the wood except that it may not provide the same relief from stress at the joints as a foam underlayment, if the subfloor is a little uneven. It might not be a bad idea to roll on a coat of something like contact cement or flat trowel a layer of adhesive as a primer. I'm pretty risk averse but I'd have little reservation about doing this.

Hope you aren't actually being sued.If it's in their yard isn't it their problem to deal with?I got rid of my Plyllostachys nuda before it reached the neighbors,and also my Empress Tree which spread worse than the bamboo.The trumpet vine got away from me and has been putting up a fight lately with the warm humid weather.It's much harder to get rid of than bamboo.My new neighbor is mowing regularly and trimming the weeds so any escapee's from my yard are being killed.Somebody next door was out there with an axe hacking roots, but it was probably Chinese Elm roots and not bamboo.The previous neighbor never pulled those weedy things out and they were about 10 or 15 feet high before the new owner cut them down.Like I said,bamboo is pretty easy to pull out.You just dig,grab onto a root and pull the whole rope of it out.Can be harder though if it gets into flagstone walkways and rock edging.Then you end up pulling the flagstone and rocks along with it.People should talk to each other before going to the law over something as minor as bamboo.

Sorry, you said "My dog poops about 3 times a week"

Where can I get a dog like that? I am almost 50 years old and have had dogs my entire life. They poop after breakfast and poop after dinner daily. If they don't poop at least once a day I worry.

My guess is your dog goes more than you think. Ignore the cell phone and watch.

I'm guessing the manager or complainer has the wrong unit. Kindly let mgmt know you don't smoke and you do pick up your dogs droppings. Ask them to talk to the complainer and get the right unit number.

This is exactly what is happening to us with the dog poop. We have a psycho neighbor who says that my teenage daughter doesn't pick up my dog's poop. Where's the proof? Now my landlord says that there's been multiple complaints about the dog poop and we have to pay $100. Is this really legal?!? I hope someone reads this even though the original post was 3 years ago.

Your dog must be sick. I have never heard of a dog that only poops three times per week. ALL my dogs have pooped at least 2 times per day.
