The shrubs are more "spread out" than "tall" if that helps. And they live in mostly shade.

i'm going to chime in on this, albeit very, very late, because i accidentally found it via search, and i have pertinent details to add. i may have just gotten lucky, but i have had an oleander on my 2nd story deck for almost 3 years now in a very large 12-15 gallon (or larger) square terra cotta pot. it's been there, 10' away from the house, left outside through the winter, through all half a dozen snows, sleets, hailstorms and ice storms this year and previous years as well, and it's doing great. i keep it pruned down to a smaller compact shape (no more than 4ft tall, 3' wide), it flowers like crazy year round, and it seems to do well. occasionally it gets grumpy, like during last year's drought, and some of the leaves yellow and fall off, but otherwise it's done exceptionally well. it gets a good bit of afternoon sun, from around noon till at least 5pm-6pm in the evening. i have seen others around, but not many. this one in particular is not something i planted (a former roommate left it behind), nor is it something i would have planted, but it is doing absolutely superb AFAIK. I'm pretty sure this guy is fairly root-bound in its current pot, but not sure my deck can really handle anything much larger in size to plant it in. i don't want to put it in the ground around the house due to its poisonous nature (small kids and animals galore nearby)

Ohmygosh Leximom! I have an EXACT same China cabinet! In fact, I have the whole dining room set-China cabinet, large buffet, small server, trestle table with claw-foot legs, 4 side chairs, 2 arm chairs! It was purchased at a local auction (eastern PA) many years ago. Like you, I was eager to find any info on it. The other day I found tags on the undersides of the chairs. (Never thought to look there before until by brother suggested it.) The set was made by the Thomasville Chair Company of Thomasville, NC. I'm guessing around the 1930s. I'm hoping they can give me more exact dates and any other info they have. If I find out more, I'll let you know. They're beautiful pieces, and I just cleaned ALL the draw pulls with Wright's copper cleaner. They look fabulous-bright and shiny again. Can't believe I found your post. moondance59, I saw your question about which granite I fell in love with, it was Blue Pearl Royale. I had been shopping for stone slabs for over a year, (and could identify most of them on sight by then), when I arrived one day at the stone yard where the owner rushed over to say excitedly that he had something really special to show me, and that he thought he'd found a very special stone for me. He loaded two slabs onto the forklift and drove them out into the sunlight, since he knew I was having a 10 foot, down-to-the countertop, bumped out window. (He had me wait outside because he wanted me to see it first in the daylight.) Well, I just cried at the remarkably stunning beauty of those slabs, it was like nothing I'd ever seen before, and I bought it on the spot! It was the bluest pearl I'd ever seen, and he said the same. The iridescent crystals were mesmerizing, and the stone looked alive. Note: I had seen regular Blue Pearl slabs before, but they were dead looking compared to these, I might have named it Blue Pearl Magic or Blue Pearl Alive, it was so totally different. Blue pearl is also one of the hardest and most dense granites ever found, it won't even accept sealer it's so dense, and fabricates beautifully. (I was also having a flush mount induction cooktop, so needed the perfectly cut recessed lip for it to seat on.) The seller had just 5 slabs and saved them all until I could see them. When they arrived at my fabricator, they also went crazy for them and immediately bought the ones I hadn't snapped up. I hope you have just as much success finding a perfect stone that you will love!
