Great Blue Herons:

Near where i live, is a large stream, that drains a long valley as it meanders along. Some years ago, the great blue Herons decided to make a section of it their home, so they built great nests, high in the trees along the stream, and settled in!

The State fisheries unit decided it would make a good trout stream, with mostly rock streambeds, and the other requisites for trout stocking. Of course, this was before the Heron Scouts did their search for a good nesting site.

Once they found the trout, it was:"Katie!! Bar the door!!"

The birds invited all, or most, of their relatives, and settled in.

Enter the energy folks:

Those folks have decided to build a "wind farm" on a high hill above the stream, with a bunch of wind turbines on it. The hill is about 300 ft. high, where they want to install the turbines. And, now the bird lovers are up in arms, saying it will kill the birds! And, the fishermen are up in arms, saying: Chase those winged rats away-we've had enough of their dirty ways! They are eating the fish!

Most everyone i have talked to about it, seem to feel like those folks who live in Tidewater areas, with the Gulls! Large droppings from the skies are not very appealing, don't cha know!?
