How sweet! I love sitting outside in the evening listening to the chorus. Had to laugh at my husband when I pointed out one particular frog sound and he said he thought all the noise was crickets or birds. Are you familiar with the Florida Wildlife Extension frog page? Good stuff. I went outside this morning to find a spawn of frog eggs in the pond. Curious if it is the tree frog or the southern leopard frog. Scarlet, take a good look at them. Chances are good they are just the juvenile southern toads that are native down here. There are at least hundreds if not thousands of little ones in my yard during the day right now. The adults are seen mostly at dusk or dawn or if you happen to find their house. When they are little they are a medium to dark brown or reddish brown, and as they get older and a little bigger they get bumps on their head and some of them have a few markings. They are great pest control and I would never intentionally kill one. They will not hurt any of your plants. They are very loud at night during the summer though. I suspect that's what you have too. Awesome! Very nice, Mike. I love that corn snake and mole kingsnake. And as always, your photography is spectacular. Especially that copperhead shot. That oughta be in a field guide. I'm driving from the Smokies to Wilmington in late June. If you know of any places that you could point me to (by email of course), I would definitely love to hear them.
